What is the fair price to pay someone to make store displays?

Hi, I am needing to hire someone to help get my store displays made. I currently do not have any employees that I would be paying an hourly wage. Does anyone have an idea of a fair price. I am sure it would vary by size. My store is located in central Kansas. Thanks, Vicki Hooker owner The Quilting Place LLC.

Some quilt shops let the seamstress have the quilt top.

Where in central Kansas are you? I'm a farm girl from McCracken (halfway between Ness City and Hays). I now live in the Dallas, Tx area.

Some will let the person keep the item after it's been on display for awhile - basically trading fabric for labor.

If you chose to do that - you might have the piecer pay for the materials up front - have her keep the receipt - and when the item is completed and it's brought back for display - you reimburse the piecer

Basically what quiltyfeelings said.

you give them the quilt when you are done displaying it.

Since it sounds like you are just starting out and things are probably tight- see if you can set up a barter or trade ?

Most quilt shops in my area , provide the fabric, and at the end of a period of time ( agreed to ahead of time) the maker gets to keep the quilt.
I have seen one that offers a discount on the fabric (30 percent) , and discounted longarm quilting( 30 percent) and at the end of a period of time the maker keeps the quilt.

Vicki, are you in Hutchinson? I visit Charlotte's quilt shop all the time. You'll have to tell me your hours and I'll pay you a visit.

When I have made a store sample, I have been given the pattern and the fabric provided. When the LQS is through displaying the item, she gives it back to me.

I am located on North Main Street in Hutchinson, Kansas. I am very familar with Ness City and spent some time working on a farm in between Ness City and Quinter when I was 17 and just married.
