Do you use a 1/4 inch foot or walking foot? I have started my binding on a quilt and pinned from the middle of one side and I have to keep taking the pins out because when i sew it there is extra binding and i have to move it down. If I use the walking foot instead of 1/4 inch it may not do this? Thanks Suzanne

I just use my regular foot. On my machine it is the A foot.

I use both. Depends what is on my machine at the time. I have never noticed a big difference between using either one. :)

I have Pfaff ... so no walking foot needed.

I don't pin mine so that's not a problem. I don't want to ease it on because I don't want a ruffled binding. With the Elna, I have to use a walking foot. With the Singer 301, I don't need it so it depends on which machine I'm using.

I'm with her. It helps move the quilt ahead evenly

TonnieLoree 05-01-2011 10:49 AM

I don't pin, nor do I use a special foot.

I usually use my 1/4" foot...cut my binding strips 2-1/4" wide. I usually baste around the outside of my quilt before adding the binding, so don't have to use the walking foot.

I use my walking foot to sew binding on.

Same here. I can use what ever foot I want and still have the walking foot thingy engaged.

I usually use a walking foot, but mine broke at the usual inopportune time last week and I used the 1/4 inch foot with the little metal thingy to guide it and had no problems at all. I also don't pin.

I always use my walking foot with good results.
