is it the same paper you pack lunches in or have underneath when u have pizza in the oven or am i totally lost :oops:

Freezer paper is plastic coated on one side, which you wrap meat etc. for freezing. Plastic side towards meat. No, you don't want to use it in the oven. I wouldn't use it for lunch packing either, altho, I suppose in a pinch it would work. When you use freezer paper for quilting or crafty things, the plastic side can be pressed to fabric with hot iron, and it will stick to the fabric temporally. It won't leave a residue on the fabric, or damage it in any way. It's pretty great stuff. The kind I get comes on a roll and is from Reynolds. I get it at the supermarket. I understand you can get it in sheets at quilt stores. Someone stated it stuck to fabric a bit better, but I have not had any experience with that.

I understand what we call freezer paper here in Norway is not the same as in the US or canada :oops:

Wax Paper: You cannot heat it, use to be used for wrapping sandwiches, not all that great for anything but to keep the counter top clean.

Parchment Paper: You can bake on it, use it for holding cake decorator frosting, wrap fish in it to bake.

Freezer Paper: one side paper, one side a wax/plastic coating. Used to wrap meat for freezer. Cannot bake on it. With the wax on one side, it is excellent for quilting templates, paper piecing, stencil making, etc. Lots of craft uses.

The biggest roll of freezer paper is about $6 at WalMart. It should last the average quilter about 20 years. :lol:

:mrgreen: That is SOOOOO true! I bought one at the grocery store, near the bags, wax paper and aluminum paper.....generally they have it on the bottom shelf. I paid about $6.00 for mine a few years ago. I use it for all the appliqueing I do (can be used more than once) and I've used it for tons of other crafts. NEVER have I used it for what it was intended for :lol: :lol:

I looked on ebay and some sellers just charge more in shipping than i thought was possible :oops:

I iron freezer paper onto the tissue paper they use to print sewing patterns on. Gives that flimsy paper a good stiff backing that lasts forever without tearing apart. Of course, the pattern will never fold up to fit back into the orgional pattern package :roll: :roll: :roll:

I also use freezer to trace out quilt stencil patterns and on occasion, do use it to wrap things for the freezer :!: :!:

I also use it to line drawers.
