I have been working on some quilted place mats for my 5 grown grandchildren for Christmas. (Yes, I know - I'm a little ahead of time.) It has been so much fun coming up with different patterns and colors for each of them. They take so little time but the results are great. I have about given up on bed quilts as I don't have a long arm machine and the cost of having them quilted is beyone my budget.

Maybe there is something you could do for the longarm quilter in exchange for her quilting your quilts...babysit, running errands, making and quilting small projects for her for gifting, etc.

What a nice idea. Something fun for you and useful for them.
I've discovered I like the smaller quicker projects as well. |
I make placemats for Christmas gifts too. They go together quickly, and they're awesome for kids. I made my DD an ISpy one for her birthday and she just loves it.
For adults I like doing a table runner and set of 4 placemats. |
Good for you, getting an early start. I'm sure they will love the place mats. Perhaps you could piece a top for your LRer and she could quilt yours. Or let you rent time on hers and you can do it yourself, it is great fun.

They will love receiving these :D:D:D

I've made a few sets sonar. I like the QAYG ones the best. Way fast and easy.

Good going on getting a head start. You could always make your quilts QAYG.

Placemats are great projects and I personally love to make them. I love quick projects with wonderful results. :-D
