Am making a small wall hanging for my DD to put in her office at college. It calls for some buttons which give it a cool 3-d look. The kit pattern calls for sewing or gluing them on. I tried sewing them on, but the shanks are large and the buttons stick out at odd angles. So, I would like to snip the shanks off and glue them onto the surface. What is a good permanent fabric glue? I know that there is a type that is used to glue fake gemstones and crystals on clothing. Would that work and what is it called. Oh, btw the buttons are plastic. Thanks for any help you can give me.

No answer .... though you will need to make sure that the glue will be good for both the plastic and the fabric.

Use a product called Jem Tack - they have it at Micheals

Thanks, I will look for it. I also have found something called Fabri-tac. Does anyone have any experience with that product?

I used "Jewel-It" to glue plastic battens to drapery fabric for Roman Shades I made. It seems to be holding up fine. I bought it at either Hobby Lobby or Michaels. The brand is Aleene's.

I have used a product called Fabric Tack that worked for what I was doing.

I have used Fabri-tac is very similar to Jem Tack, both work . Just make sure the fabric is washed as any manufactures finishes on the fabric effect the hold of the glue.

Fabric glue should hold good. It is not necessary to wash fabric.
Hot glue will hold buttons if wall hanging is not washed. It may hold even if washed, but no guarantee.
