What happens if . . . ?
If I mark a quilt top with Crayola Ultra Washable markers, then glue baste the top to the batting and backing . . . since the markers are washable, will the marks liquify and smear wherever they touch the wet glue? If yes, then I will use 505 instead, but prefer the Elmer's.

I glue first and THEN mark.

I would make a sample and try it out. The marker may wash out but if it bleeds into the glue, will it wash out with the glue?
|
I would think it would wash out but since you are using heat on the glue it should disappear that way.

Do the test. Fabrics react differently.

I happened to see a Westalee YouTube just yesterday. I saw them use the washable Crayola markers. Was noted that they only become permanent if IRONED. I'd definitely test first though.
