What happens to sequins when you turn the washer on?
I have been considering using some little 3/4" black bird sequins on a vintage sampler I am working on plus adding some corner cobwebs on my Sunbonnet Witch quilt. Will that work? I kind of washed some and they seemed okay but I would definitely put some instructions about overheating in the dryer on my label. But, has anybody tried this and had problems? Seems like it's not a good idea but it add a little charm to these projects.

The friction in washing might cause the loss of color....I found out the hard way. So maybe sew a few to a scrap and let it go through the gently cycle with a towel .

I have a skirt with sequins, my significant other washed it along with other clothes it went through the wash but I didn't put in the dryer because I was the one doing the changing. Some of the sequins are loose so I have to repair them eventually.

I have a couple of t-shirts that are embellished with sequins and they go thru the washer and dryer just fine.

Turn the item inside out and put in a mesh bag to wash. Lay flat or hang dry. The dryer is the biggest danger to any embellishment.

I did that on a small piece and it was okay. I will try it on the actual square before I put it on the quilt. Thanks for all the comments.
