What the heck is a half-cross triangle?
I've heard a few radio commercials for the NW Quilt Expo that's going on this weekend in Portland. At the beginning of the ad a woman speaks, asking if you're into this thing or that thing. One of the things she mentions is "half cross triangles". Am I missing something? I've never heard of a half-cross triangle - only half-square triangles. Maybe it was a typo by the person who wrote the ad...?

I'm waiting for the answer too.................................

You got me curious!

I got curious, too . . . so did a Google search. Nothing on half cross BUT found some stuff on "hatch" cross (cross hatch quilting)! Maybe that's what she meant.

LOL, this is what happens when you have someone who doesn't know squat about quilting write the ad spot and another who doesn't know squat about quilting read the spot.

Perhaps it is the way other countries call half-square. As wadding is the same as batting. If you google it, you get pictures of half-square triangles.
|
Could it have meant what we also call a quarter-square triangle? It's of triangles and sort of looks like a 'cross'.

Ok I heard a bit more of the commercial today, she also said "hatch crossing" which I assume was supposed to be cross-hatching. Now I'm wondering if they're doing it on purpose to stir up discussion.

i was also thinking of quarter sqare triangle where you cut from corner to corner twice. but, on the other hand, some advertising copy writer had no clue about quilting terms.
