fun little dog quilt I did. Now I'm not sure how to quilt the dog part, please help :))

I think your quilt is adogable!! What I might do is 'hand tie' here and there to create a furry sort of coat.

curlie q's... !!!!

What a cute quilt !!! I love it..

Depending on how wide the dog is you may not have to do anything. I can't tell how big the quilt is. If it's a wall hanging that won't be washed often you may be able to stop where you are. Depends on which batting you used. I love what you did though. Looks great.

You could FMQ wavy lines kind of like fur? You could also FMQ bone outlines. You could quilt in a cute saying about wiener dogs or the words like bow wow or bark.

That is so cute! Don't know about the quilting part but wanted to let you know your quilt is adorable. Great job!

this quilt is going to the dog, lol. I am giving it to my cousin for her weiner dog :)
soo. I will do some more quilting. I am just never sure how to blend the straight lines with the more curvy, if that makes sense........

faykilgore 05-06-2012 05:20 PM

Stitch in the ditch would work, just follow the seam lines between the fabrics. What a cute pattern!

You don't want them to blend - the curvies being in the doggie bits would heighten the contrast between the background and the pup - and you would be able to see the pup on the backside of the quilt too (I'm sure this is terribly important to your cousin's dog!), especially if you SITD around the pooch.

Ha! I'm sure it's not that important to Chuck the weiner dog, But I'm trying to learn what looks best before I use my skills on something that took me months to do :)
the back side is really cool too btw. I used an old shirt that feels like suede leather

Just quilting the outline of the dog you will have the dog on the back and that would be
a 2 sided quilt. Just a suggestion. Quilt is adorable.

bearisgray 05-08-2012 10:32 AM

That quilt made me smile big.

what she said

I would do a meander inside the dog part. I think it will create a nice balance to all the linear lines. its adorable!

CAS49OR 05-08-2012 02:23 PM

Your cousin is so lucky, she has a weiner dog, you for a cousin, and gets this oh-so-cute quilt! Heck of a long doggie that is! I liked the idea of tying it with soft fuzzy ties, yarn or something.
