Next time, it might be easier to face the border outward while quilting, then most of the quilt is behind the machine while you're stitching.

Wow, I never even heard of that many borders!
I think little kids with glasses look adorable! |
I have made 7 borders at one time. Sew all the strips at one time and apply to each border, then miter the corners. That is the easy part. The hard part for anyone using a DSM is maneuvering the gorilla while quilting! :-)

I counted. The result is 10 borders. One 8" one is applique, several are strips, the others are pieced, some with corner blocks. As Stitch678 suggested, I tried to keep the quilt forward but often found it wanting to turn sideways. My machine does have a larger harp. I am now fmq the outside border and should finish it today. The label is in place, then squaring and binding.
The words of wisdom I added to the label: "God feeds all of the birds, but He does not throw it into the nest". Does anyone else add verses or "words" to the label? |
Wow, what a lovely thing to do and a lovely sentiment for the quilt label. He'll be able to use that quilt until he is grown into a man. I can just imagine his tiny little body all snug and warm in that queen-size quilt.

My favorite for babies and young children is this: "May God bless you with love your whole life through."
I can't think of a better thing to wish for a child. |
