I couldn't find anything when I googled vintage Camel sewing machine or The Camel Sewing Machine Company. Huh....

Maybe put a post in the vintage sewing machine section?

Looks like a spinoff of an older Singer--------------another idiot seller who doesn't know the back of a machine from a >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Another Singer 15 clone. These were made in Japan modeled after the 15, possibly with some improvements. They could be badged by anyone so some were store promos. Usually good machines.

Probably not $1...lots of times they put $1 on the listing to draw you in...esp if at a consignment type store

Yep, that's what it looks like to me. Here is a blog that I happened on a long time ago. He has a section on how to identify the different types of machines that you like that have lousy picture. Check him out! http://vssmb.blogspot.com/
