Glacier Star is an outstanding quilt pattern but it looks too complex for me. If you are up for it then go for it! If I was doing one for my parents 50, I think I would look for a block with special significants to them. You know like Virginia Reel if they were from Virginia, Tennessee Waltz if they were from Tennessee (sp) The Storm at Sea....Two Hearts Connected version might be cool also.

So many great ideas! I'm going to have to put a lot more thought into this. The suggestion to try an easier Judy Niemeyer pattern is very smart, and I think the Cactus Flower tablerunner will be the one. I really like all the ideas for the personal touches, such as incorporating photos, signatures, and other significant elements.

I love this idea! That is something I would never have thought of - thank you. The color gold will definitely be included.

Do you think they will use a quilt if you make it for them?

(Not trying to spoil your fun - just something to check out before you start making something)
