What makes that "crinkly" sound in cloth toys for baby?

Hi - question for all you smart sewers! I just purchased several panels for soft books and would like to put some "crinkle stuff" in some of the pages. My GD just loves to crunch whatever that stuff is - so what do I use? Is it cellophane? or potato chip bags? something else? and do I sew it in? can it be ironed?

I'm sure someone here has some experience with this- thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences!

Yes, you can use potato chip bags! Almost anything that makes a sound, but is clean!

I use cellophane. You can buy it by the roll at Ben Franklin and other "five and ten" type stores.

I've heard that you can use the bag from a box of cereal. Haven't tried it myself

Hey, all are great ideas, so glad this question was asked because I was curious myself!

The backing of laminate.

You can use Mylar balloons or layers of plastic grocery bags

I wondered about all of the above mentioned, anything that makes a sound is good. Just wondered how some of it would hold up to washings.

There is an actual fabric that the toys manufacturers use. A link or source was posted a while back about a year ago? You had to special order it from the source. It was posted by Magdelina and was from American Felt and Craft. I tried to do a direct link but it won't work. If you go to the search feature of QB you can find the original post?
