If I would want to make my own turn overs what size square would I need to start out with to cut two turn over triangles or can some one tell me what the size is of a turn over triangle? Thanks in advance.

They are six inch triangles, so is it half of a 6" square? I don't know for sure where they measure their triangle.

Or do I need to add a little extra like you do when cutting a half square triangle?

Sorry, I don't know for sure, but when I made my stack and whack I used 6" squares. I am sure Craftybear will find out for sure, if not I would take a couple of scrap fabrics and try it.

Fabric depot has some. I think it says they are 6".

When I use turnovers, I sew them together along the long sides. Then I always use a 5 1/2 inch square to square them up. The finished size is then 5 inches. Hope this helps!

i think you add 7/8 of an inch to your square, 6" plus 7/8 .for a total of 6 7/8". works for any size square. try it on some scraps.

This would make them cut from a 6" square. Thanks!

Cilck on quilting tutorial and then click the stack and wack video.

Look at this great tutorial online free for making a stack and wack with turn overs.

The turnovers start out as 6" squares. That's so they'll end up 5" finished HSTs, which can then be paired with 5" charm squares to make most quilts that use both plain squares and HSTs (Jacob's Ladder??)

This makes sense. I was thinking that when I realized charms are 5 inch squares.
