What is the most pliable batting?

I'm wondering if fleece (or something else) for batting will make a quilt more pliable ... similar to a throw. The top and back are cotton, so I'm sure no matter what I use it will probably never be "as" pliable as a Throw. And, I realize the more quilting done, the stiffer the quilt. The one I'm working on will have a lot of wavy lines ... so with all the quilting, the batting type may not make a difference in pliability of this patricular quilt.

I can't seem to find a clear answer on the internet so I decided to call on the "wealth of knowlege" on this Board.

Thanks so much.

I think the most pliable batting would be a thin cotton batting. I believe it would be more pliable than fleece, which is so much thicker.

I don't think you could go wrong with using fleece or flannel.

I have a "picnic" quilt I made with denim for the backing, and cotton (4 patch) for the top. I used a piece of fleece as batting because I wanted it to dry quickly (and the denim would already take a long time to dry), as well as stand up to heavy abuse of being on the ground (pine needles, twigs, etc) and frequent washing. The quilt is very pliable.

I used to use W&N until I tried Quilter's Dream and have never looked back. Quilter's Dream, whether it be their wool, cotton blend, or poly, is so much softer than W&N, and has a lovely drape.

Years ago I made a quilt for my youngest son that was pieced cotton on top of a fleece blanket, quilted together, no batting. It's snuggly and wraps nicely around him.

The most pliable batting I've tried is Hobb's Tuscany silk. It isn't 100% silk, I think there's a small amount of polyester.

Quilters Dream Request - have it in several queen size quilts. Love it.

Someone at my guild showed a quilt with silk batting. It was so very drape-y.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'll give these a try to see which one I like the best. I've always used W & N because that's what Hancock's had. Unfortunately, our store closed a couple years ago and the nearest Joann's is about 40 minutes away. I know I can order online, but I like to feel what I'm buying when it comes to fabrics. Ha.
