Okay, so I messed up my cutting- I am making a quilted flag to hang. I go to the store to buy 1/2 yard of the fabric I ran short on andthey dont't have it any more, at least right now. So, do I just leave the store? NO, of course not, I walk out with 2 bags of other fabric, non of which which could be used for the flag..... Is this a sign? LOL, I know somany of you know what this is like!
|
I don't think you have a problem.LOL
|
Problem, what problem! Welcome to the addiction that is known as QUILTING! Been there, done that, and will continue doing it, I expectuntil I die! Fabric calls out to me and follows me home, and I am in heaven!
|
Yes sometimes I wonder How Did That Happen? But it often does!!
|
Only 2 bags?? That's the problem! LOL :D :D :D
|
It's the only way I know to feel better about messing up when cutting. :D :D :D :D
|
You don't have a problem. You are planning ahead. That is FORESIGHT! :D
|
Problem?? what problem?? That is called being pro-active because there is always another quilt in the making!
|
Problem I see no problem. I'm sure you needed that fabric. Just because you don't know what you need it for right now does not mean you don't need it. I think you're fine. Just like the rest of us.
|
No problem---can you say S-T-A-S-H? Any self respecting
quilter has to have a stash; it sounds to me like you reacted like any other fabric loving qulter would. |
I don't think you have a problem. Now you get to go back and buy something to match the flag...
|
This is called A D D I C T I O N ... and luckily there is no 12-step program for this !!
I received a "small" tax refund a couple weeks ago, and am now the proud Mama to 25 yards of fabric, purchased on SALE online!! Never pay full price!!! :D  |
Problem?? I don't think so. I have never been in a fabric store of any kind and not walked out with far more than I was looking for. You will find a use for it and if not it is just nice to look at!! Like they say...can you spell S_T_A_S_H. He/she who dies with the most fabric wins. I would say we all have a good start. I will try and post my stash if I can figure out how. You will just die laughing..
|
Nope, no problem there!
If it were a problem, then hubby would have had me committed years ago lol |
Problem nope no problem you just say Hello My Name is and I am here to admit that I am a quiter, lol
|
quilter i meant to say and cloth is my addiction
|
I think you are perfectly normal, you just need to buy more fabric!
|
Nothing strange about this! :D I do this all the time. it's called being an addicted quilter! And I don't think there is a cure, not that I would ever want one. If the house catches on fire, I would save my stash first! So much of my material is no longer available. I even made a quilt which I call my file quilt with a 4in square of each piece of material I had at the time! Now have enough to do another one! So don't fight it, just give in and enjoy it.  Ninnie http://csquares.blogspot.com read LORD LET ME LIVE TO QUILT ANOTHER DAY |
I really don't see a problem here. If anything, you are helping the economy with keeping the fabric stores in business!!! That's a good thing!!!!!
|
No, you don't have a problem. I do this ALL the time. Even when you have a bookcase full of fabric. You'll still have to go back cause you will need something else.Your just planning ahead for your next quilt..
|
I tell my husband that when inflation hits the economy all the fabric I have bought recently will look like a bargain.
that's it--I'm "bargain"shopping. Rose Hall |
I'm guilty as charged..... LOL I do it all the time.
|
This is called in the back of my mind working on my next project cause this one is at a standstill. Just take it home & put on the shelf & have for a rainy day. I have material I have bought on trips that I keep for a special quilt I'm going to make someday. If I use everything I have bought this quilt will cover half of Texas.

Why do you think Joann's sends those 40% off coupons. The thing you want is on sale for 30% off so you can't use the coupon , you search for something that you can use the coupon on and buy 5 other things on sale and off you go saving $2.00 and spending $35.00. Quite a shopper!!!

Too funny. I wish I had found you ladies a long time ago. I have more fabric than I could use in a lifetime, yet still buy more every time I go to get thread, buttons, whatever... My children know that as they leave for college - second one goes this fall - I'm making their rooms extensions of my sewing room

I'm laughing with you, I do that all the time!
|
You got the message. This is just God's way of making sure you have enuf fabric that you don't realize you need yet.

Some problem! We all identify with you! Yesterday DH and I came home with a garbage bag and a couple of boxes of fabric scraps from his aunt. She's going into an assisted living residence and can't take a lot with her, so she offered what she had to me. I'm not sure how please my sweetie was, as we are moving to a different house sometime in the next couple of months, but so what? I'm gonna have fun just looking through my treasure tonight. The next time we go see her, she wants me to look through a bunch of old quilt and craft magazines she had subscribed to and kept through the years. This awesome lady is 93 years old!

Whoever has the most wins-guess you are on your way to winning--Have fun with your fabric!

If you have some uncut fabric, a jet printer and a scanner I even have a solution to your original problem. You can buy paper backed white fabric that you can run through your Jet printer. Scan the fabric you need more of into your computer. Once you have the scanned picture, print it out onto the fabric. Be sure to follow the package directions for the fabric. You must iron the fabric to set the ink. The peel off the paper and cut out the shapes you need.

Jojo - I'm laughing, because we have a house that's MUCH too big for the 2 of us. Bought it in '72 when the kids were 8 and 9. Obviously, they're long gone. I now have 2 sewing rooms - and slop over into a 3rd bedroom - the house has 5. DH would dearly love to sell and move into a condo in the same town. Did I mention that one of the reasons is the acre+ of lawn he would like to stop mowing - - - I told him he'd have to find a condo with 4 or 5 bedrooms - - - and hire movers to move my stash. I also suggested that he get some goats - - -
Also, when my now 16 year old granddaughter was only 3, I promised her we would never sell the house. She still remembers! |
Problem? No way. We all know that if you don't buy it today, you will need it tomorrow and it will be gone!! LOL

I don't see the problem either......I am seriously working to build up to something respectable in the form of S-T-A-S-H and as I always tell DH...I'm doing MY part to help out the economy!!

Nope, I don't see any problem there! Last week I went to the fabric warehouse around here (1/2 off everything) to pick up a yard of Star Wars fabric for my son, and walked out with about 11 or 12 yards....nope, I dont see any problem with that!
Went for this.... ...came home with this! |
Went to Sewintg Club yesterday & I always buy myself something. When I'm not one handed, I'll post pictures what I got. It is awful trying to type with the wrong hand. Mousing backwards is too.

I've gone a bit further. I've gone into a fabric shop to pick up an item, but was sidetracked by something I saw as I entered the store. Bought lots of fabrics, etc, but forgot the item of initial intention. **#*#^^**##$$$$$ |

Joanne, our house isn't really too big for us...it's that our landlords of the farm we are renting want us to move to the house on that farmplace. I know I'm not minding the move...we will be in a little bit smaller house, but it's warmer than our 100 year+ one that we now are in, and when it comes down to it, there is a fair amount of storage space...and a FULL basemant! (Try visualizing a rock/cement not-even-close-to-full under the current house!)
RE: my treasure trove from my sweetie's aunt...OMG! Some of the stuff I will donate to the quilting ladies at my church, but there are some fun things in there...like at least 2 yards of yellow seersucker...that I can make some fun summer things for my little granddaughter...and of course, cottons for quilts. I don't think I'll get into any of my ideas for the stash until we are moved and settled, which will hopefully be soon. I'll try to log on and keep posting when possible. Jojo |
