A friend asked me the name of this pattern and I can't identify it, can any of you tell us what it is?

Its not curvy enough for winding ways but the curve at the corners make it not the kaleidoscope either but it seems like a mixture of both patterns

I am not sure of the name but I am sure someone on the board will come up with it.

I looks like a variation on a drunkard's path. The squares look like they start out as a drunkard's path block and then the triangles on the sides are added in a similar way to the flying geese method that uses a rectangle and two squares. If I knew how to post a picture, I would draw it and post it.

Almost like hearts and gizzards, but instead of heart scoops it was made into a quarter circle....and probably easier.

Oh I see the seams now......you may be right with your interpretation....sort of a drunkards path, then peaky&spikey added to the solid side to make that triangle......

It's Key West or Winding Ways, but you can check quilterscache.com and find the block.

I don't know the name of it either. I have to say that I love the secondary patterns formed when they intersect. This is a very cool block pattern.

By the way welcome to the quilting board.

Guess what ! I was searching for a different pattern and I found the pattern to make this one in a Fons and Porter book called, "Fat Quarter Friendly", by Leisure Arts. Page 41. It is a winding ways. This pattern uses applique to make the blocks.

I think it's pretty, whatever it is!
