Can anyone tell me what the name of this block is? This is the first time I have uploaded a photo, so if you don't see the photo, I will try try again!

Happy quilting!

It looks like a Carpenter's Wheel variation to get the corners the way they are. I'll look for a better name, but if I was going to draft this out, that is where I'd start.

I agree with Iceblossom that it looks like a Carpenter's Wheel modified to put triangles in the for corners. (I've also seen it called a Carpenter's Star.)

Here a free pattern that also shows several different color combinations.
And here are two more.
All of those patterns use half square triangles to handle the diagonal parts of the design, which allows one to avoid avoid inset seams.

I think you both are correct!! Thank you Iceblossom and platyhiker for for this information and the patterns showing how the block is started - makes it easy to see how it can be changed a little too! Happy Quilting!

It sure looks like the Carpenter's Wheel but with strategic placement of colors to create a unique look. The example is a beautiful piece. This has been on my "To Do List" for years. Perhaps it is time to get 'er done.

I agree with you. It's the fabric color placement that makes it look so different. I put the links up for the block and it's a good size, maybe 22 inches. They also show how other made it but no one used colors like Happy Quilters blocks. Those have a very unique appearance.

Platyhiker, thank you for the first link, I have it saved to make it.
