My mind has gone blank, and I cannot think of the name of this star block.

I know it as the "Friendship Star". :)

I think a Friendship Star has half square triangles, this has split side squares

thank you though

There's a similar one in EQ called Arkansas Snowflake. The four points of the star are correct, but it adds a QST in the center.

There's also a non-nine patch version in Blockbase (from EQ) but these blocks only have numbers. It's #3892 and here's an image:

Just remember that quilts blocks usually have several different names. So just use the one that you like best. I like the friendship star.

In the FWS, your block is called "Periwinkle"

The Friendship Star.

My mom was given a stack of antique blocks that have yet to be sewn into a quilt, they look just like your picture. Included in the blocks was an old, hand-drawn template labeled "Periwinkle Star". If you google "periwinkle star images" you will find lots of examples.

Thank you all for your help. I think it is most like the Periwinkle Star.

I designed a quilt, and the surrounding blocks, ended up creating this secondary block. But, instead of piecing like these seem to be (X intersection at center), mine is going to go like this:
