Seriously? Don't tell my husband as I have explained that it is part of the quilting moto we all must live by.

I like my stash too much to even consider not having one. On the other hand, it does take up lots of space and cause quite the chaos on occasion. I wish I could be a little more self-disciplined where the fabric is concerned.

I'm a firm believer in "the one that dies with the most fabric wins" and have a hard time throwing even miniscule pieces away (I use those in fabric art for Bible covers). Really now, admit it some of you, that the best fun in quilting sometimes is the hunt for fabrics and seeing what kind of bargains you can find. I love finding a beautiful fabric tucked away on a clearance rack, that I wasn't intending to purchase. Or a piece of gorgeous material for almost nothing at a thrift shop. I buy when I can and save it for inspirations to come. It gives me a good feeling to see all my stash waiting to be made into something. And if it wasn't enough, lately I've taken to repurposing thrift store clothing into crafted purses, quilts, etc. It's all the QB's fault - someone said that cotton fabric was going to become outragously priced, so I was planning ahead. LOL Just kidding, I really need NO encouragement, at all.... :)
A glimpse into MY chaos.....
Shelves with fabric neatly folded, bins of fabric on the floor in front of shelves, sorted cleaned clothes from the thrift shop piled on the bins at the moment, and a dresser on the right full of folded fabrics, with other assorted stacks here and there. I'm still in the process of moving my studio to a larger room, hence the explosion that no longer fits this room. Soon, it will be organized again.

I, too, have no real 'stash' per se. I always buy extra for projects and do keep whatever is unused so I have bits here and there. I don't care for 'scrappy' quilts. I sew and hand quilt regularly. I'm currently quilting a carpenters star (about 50" sq.) for a table topper and am piecing a twin log cabin for a graduation gift for next year. Between piecing and quilting, it will take me that long to complete. I also have a couple of completed tops to quilt yet as well as working on a BOM at my LQS. I'm in my sewing room most days and it's not tidy by any stretch of the imagination. But stash...not really. Enough if I need to whip up a block (or several) for a swap and the like but that's about it. It works for me.

Hmm. I have a stash. I'm still building it but how in the world does she afford to buy what she needs as she needs it. Now if they are just small projects, I could see it but hard to comprehend for me. But if it works for her then ok.

I store my stash in the white plastic 3-drawer dressers (with clear plastic drawers from Walmart. I have them stacked, 2 high, along every available inch of wall space in the studio. I have tubs in all closets, under all beds. Hell, a couple of week ago I bought another 3-drawer dresser, filled it with fabric and now it sits next to the vanity in my bathroom.
Bottom line, I can't relate to "No Stash" LOL

to each his own but i have camel back trunks and foot lockers full of fabric yes more than i will ever use but sis will be happy to take it off my son's hand when i go to quilters heaven

Compared to what I've seen, I do not have a stash. But I do have leftovers. I buy only for the current Project. Can't afford otherwise.

My thoughts are the opposite, if I buy it now on sale and someday I have no money to buy more, I will some on hand to use. That someday came 2 years ago, I was able to make gifts and large quilts without having to purchase anything. My stash is down now, only have blenders left, along with special collections I have not use yet. (1930;3 and repro)
