I saw that my LQS is having a sale on panto. I searched their site and can't figure out what these stencil things are used for?
What are they?

Panto is a short name for pantograph. Its a printed pattern that long armers follow with a stylus of some sort. When you follow the pattern, the machine stitches that design on the quilt. They can be simple or very intricate. PM if you would like to see a picture of one in use. I have a picture of one on my frame.

Paper with a design that you trace with a laser light from the back side of a longarm machine.

curiosity makes me ask this....do they make a panto in a roll that you can use for domestic machines? something that you can pin down and stitch on the lines?

Holice 08-07-2011 06:31 PM

yes there is a company that makes similar for domestic machines. They are mostly for borders and sashing. Don't know the name of the company but see their ads in quilt magazines.
