Absolutely! I'm also not fond of the pin basting of the sandwich, but it's an opportunity to inspect every bit of the top before I commit to the quilting.

Sandwiching/basting for sure. Cutting ... eh.

I hate cutting things. my cat always has to sit on what i'm cutting. she hears that mat coming out. then the cutter being opened, she can be asleep 2 rooms away and next thing I know her butt is onmy new fabric. I hate cutting.

Sandwiching, I hate loath and detest it, everything else I love.

It has to be that hand sewn binding.

I dislike making the back. I either have way too much or just short 2". This has been a fun thread to read. Seems the most popular "I hate" is sandwiching! I don't do that as I send mine out, except for smaller things, like table runners, wall hangings, etc.

That's why I like to make scrappy quilts:o

Cutting, because for me, it's hard. Either the ruler moves or my Rheumatoid Arthritis hands & shoulders get sore and I get too exhausted from it. My wonderful family all went in on a big gift for my 60th BD; an cutter machine! (am I allowed to say what kind?) I don't have the cutting dies for every shape etc, but the biggest help for me is my 3 different widths of strips which can be folded multiple times. Every piece is exactly the same, which I really appreciate when I need to cut 50-100 or more small 2 1/2in squares! I know I could pay to have things precut, but I can't and don't want to wait for them to receive my carefully chosen fabrics, cut, then mail them to me. So I cut.
I also have trouble quilting a bigger project, so that's where I might pay for help. I can quilt lap quilts & smaller.
