No doubt about it, the Winding Ways would be my choice.

Looks very challenging with the curves but the results would be a huge - WOW - AMAZING - GORGEOUS - STUNNING - OVER THE TOP. Can you tell I LOVE this pattern?

Hi Iowa Grandma ... I wanted to share with youa few pics of a quilt I am working on in the navy blue and cream. This is only my 3rd quilt so I am still using the easier patterns, but it sure is a lot of work anyway. I cut 5" squares and sewed them together. So far every quilt I have made I have used the blue painters tape as my guide in sewing as I have not even attempted the free motion quilting. I also did stitch in the ditch on each square. This is a twin size quilt and its for my son and fiance to use as a throw and it matches their sofa. The few I have made I feel came out good and so did their owners and the back looks as good as the front, but as I said these to are a lot of work.

Have you considered a Drunkard's Path?
There are many variations of it

When I think navy and cream-I dream Drunkards path.

For blue and white/cream, I love the Irish Chain. Such a timeless look.

Great suggestions. I liked nancymcd's quilt, the various sizes of checks look good, I liked the tip about painters tape too.

When I first read your posting, log cabin immediately popped into my mind with red or burgundy centers. It's simple and classic for a non-fussy girl, I think it would be perfect.

I vote for Hunters Star!

Drunkards path would look really nice

Basic churn dash and bears paw both turn out nice in two colors like that. I have seen both in the navy white combo. Quite striking.
