Can I get input on what pattern my 12 year old should be looking at making. She wants to make one. She quilts so I think she can handle it.

Thanks in advance.

D9P, use some really cool wild fabrics for the corners of the 9 patch.

OOps, just reread your post. Purse, not quilt!!! Messenger bag, they are real popular with the younger set here in midwest.

Lazy Girl designs has some really cute purses and her patterns are really easy to follow :D:D:D

Alot will depend on what she likes. I tried second guessing the 12 y/o in my life and she was ok with it but really liked another one better that I would have never dreamed she would pick. They change their minds so quickly at that age!

Take a look at this pattern, <http://store.quilting-warehouse.com/320828.html> I know it seems a little pricey but you get the handle with the pattern. The cool part is she can make different purses to go with different outfits.

I would go with Lazy Girl, too. She has several smallish bags that would probably suit a young girl. There are some good construction videos on Carol Woods site.
One of my DDs' favorites is the Chelsea bag.
