What Pattern to use for Bonnie Hunter's Majestic Mtn?
 

I have a quilt top coming up that needs to be quilted for a guy and I'm more into custom quilting than an E2E pattern. Can you show me what you used for your Majestic Mtn quilt top that's not E2E? Got the threads picked out but that's all. It's a queen size quilt top. Originally I made if for a gal who after I'd purchased the fabrics decided she wanted a queen size instead of full size but luckily I found 3 fat qtrs to finish the border with as I'd purchased the kit a couple years beforehand. Since then she has passed on from pancreas cancer so I was never able to give it to her. This would have been a gift. An old workmate came up thru my state on his way to Alaska and saw this quilt and liked it so told him I'd finish it for him.

So anyone with ideas for custom quilting would be greatly appreciated.

I see nobody has responded to your question. I have not done this quilt, but I did a search for "delectable mountain" quilt and looked at the way they were quilted....most were e2e....but the ones that had more custom type quilting generally seemed to have some type of feathers in the background light fabric and specific motifs or straight lines in the dark or colored portion. Might give you some ideas.

may depend on how the blocks are arranged, but here's one I did several years ago .... (VERY custom!)

Funny thing as I noticed you're in Florida, hope this latest storm hasn't made too much of a mess in your area. I used to live in Orlando for 30 yrs before I moved back to the midwest 11 years ago. Sorry to say I haven't missed Florida with its heat and humidity.

Here is a blog from a dear, very talented quilter who passed away on April 20, 2021. Debbie was a genius when it came to color wash quilts along with so many other talents that she had & I dearly loved her kind spirit. She was always ready & willing to share any & all of her "secrets" when it came to quilting & such. Her daughter has kindly kept her blog up as so many followers had made that request since it is packed full of memories & instructions & knowledge.
She used meandering loop quilting on her Bonnie Hunter quilt & it turned out beautiful and did not take anything away from the beautiful quilt. Here is her blog on that particular quilt.

It may not be original but I channel quilted mine (vertically) and it turned out great. The only thing I should have done was make it a little wider. When channel quilting it draws up in width. It was a guy quilt.

No, she did now die of Covid but of fast moving cancer. She was such a talented & giving person. You should find her post on the doll quilts a few years back. Her husband is a very talented Master Woodworker & she also posted a lot of his work on her blog. I still miss her.
