What pattern to use
I have decided I want to make a scrappy quilt made up of only polka dots of various sizes and colors. I quilt and have just learned to paper piece. Does anybody have any ideas?
(You guys are so quick and good at helping that I must say I usually just lurk here reading all of the helpful ideas. Thanks in advance.) |

Missouri Star Quilt Co has a lot of ways to cut up a nine-patch.

No paper piecing, but I have Double Irish Chain with a lot of dots and I love it.

I don't paper piece yet, but my first scrappy quilt will be a simple strip quilt. This is a nice one: http://milliesquilting.blogspot.com/...ist-quilt.html, but this is the one I am planning to make when I get all those other ones made. I was not able to find a photo of THE one, but this one is close. I intend to make the center strip white, so it comes out looking sashed. That would look especially nice if most of your dots are either white or on a white background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ02NM9-USw. I was pondering your question and thought about a pineapple quilt, and lo and behold, there are patterns for them. https://www.generations-quilt-patter...-patterns.html

Polka dots reminds me of Spring and that reminds me of Easter. What about Easter eggs made with polka dot fabrics, pretty spring flowers, maybe an Easter basket.

Thanks for the ideas. I’m midstream hand quilting a queen sized quilt so I’ve probably got a couple more weeks to ponder ideas for the polka dots.
