What quilt pattern? 5-1 yard cuts for a baby quilt

Hi,

I have a quilt kit with coordinating blues and greens that I am going to make for a baby quilt and I was wondering what quilt pattern you would use to make a baby quilt. I have 5 1 yard cuts. My piecing skills are decent but I would like to do something on the easy side with 1 of the fabrics as a focus fabric. I also wouldn't mind splitting the 5 yards and making 2 baby quilts if that is possible with 2 1/2 yards.....Thanks for any suggestions you have!!!

diagonal, trip around the world, DP9P. Just go for it whatever strikes your fancy when you lay it out, That is what I like best.

What about a rail fence? Or a twister quilt?

My favorite lately was a chevron. I had eight fabrics, but five would do.

Maryquilts.com has many free patterns, and a favorite of mine is the Quick Strippy quilt. Or- alternating 6 inch (finished) 4 patches and focus squares, using the other fabrics for border(s) and backing. Have fun!

A tem minuet block requires 5colours. I would use that.

If one of the fabrics is a really good stand alone pattern, use it as a big block then put several colors or patterns of sashing and cornerstones around it and finish with a wider border.

Snowball blocks would be another easy block for a quilt. Rail fence would be a good one.

The lightening 4 patch makes a cute baby quilt. It's the bigger square and then a patch of two which equals in size to the bigger square. What size of the blocks is your choice. I like 6" blocks. If you want to showcase one of the fabrics, make that one the larger square.
