I also made this quilt years ago, I just bought a book that had the quilt on the cover and made it in reproduction fabrics. I gifted it to a dear friend she still has it and I may still have the book.

How would you quilt a quilt like this?
|
It is a very old pattern. I found it in my mothers patterns in a very large block. She had cut out several that I still need to do something with. Hers has no name with it as she had cut the pattern from scrap paper.

I may, in the future, try this one. I'm a newbie and am not ready for this one yet. I really like it, though. It has that special vintage feel.
Thanks for your help. bkay |
I have a top like this that my mother made for my cousin. My cousin gave it to me a couple of years ago. My mother died in 1964. I want to hand quilt it but honestly do not know how it should be quilted. It is at the long armer to be basted. The background is very thin so it will have to be quilted lightly?

If you go to Amazon and put in:
Granny Quilt Decor: Vintage Quilts of the '30s Inspire Projects for Today's Home in the search bar, there is a used one listed for about $5. Then there is also a link to a "newer edition of this book" for less than $1. |
My dear GM made me one for a wedding present 44 years ago and made one for my mom's wedding present 60+ years ago. We have always called the quilt a Colonial Girl/Colonial Lady quilt.
NOTE: We treasure our quilts; however, two pieces of the fabric in my quilt were loosely woven and have raveled over the years. :-( |
