I would love to make this quilt but don't know about the pattern. I'm pretty new to quilting and need a pattern.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Frankie

looks like one of the turning twenty patterns, there are patterns for a number of variations, they start with 20 fat quarters, all cut the same way, the pieces are mixed up and sewn back together, or a yellow brick road pattern is alot like it, but i do believe that one is a turning twenty.

Disappearing Nine Patch - D9P. There are tutorials. Put D9P in the search box. Basically, you make a nine patch block, then cut it through the center in each direction. Turn two of the new blocks and sew them back together.

Disappearing Nine Patch (D9P) ...

You take nine squares, sew them into 3 rows by 3 rows (a 9-patch). Cut in half vertically, then cut in half horizontally.

Here are some good tutorials from the board:

and for a real flair ...

Use the 'search' feature at the top menu, enter 'D9P', enjoy all the posts!

Might be a D9 patch but looks more like a turning twenty to me.

Looks like Turning 20 to me as well.

It is either turning 20 or yellow brick road... they are very similar.

Turning Twenty has 3 colors per block. I like your design,
the colors look great together.

My first thought was Turning 20 also, but a closer look and I can see that it's a D9P.

Well, for Pete's sake, this is it and so simple. Thank you so much and God bless. I'm smiling now. :))

Lol which one did you figure it out to be???

Looks like a turning twenty to me. I love that pattern.

The D9P, It should be really easy now. Amazing what a cut of a scissors can do.

BKrenning 02-18-2011 06:19 PM

It's an extremely large D9P.

mamaw 02-18-2011 06:20 PM

I agree that it is a large Disappearing 9 Patch.

Yup that is what it is. The one in the picture is very nice, even if it is pink. ;)

Tinabug 02-18-2011 07:42 PM

Dear Irishrose,
Well I think yours is terrific! Even if it does have pink:)
I plan on bright/lime green for my center block. Have a great weekend.
Best,
Frankie

irishrose 02-18-2011 11:40 PM

Actually, it's not pink. It's a very pretty, strong coral and the little squares that started out as the center block are a strong orange/red. I don't why it photographed so pink. My camera usually does better than that. I can't imagine the daughter who received it with anything pink. It was fun to watch it change from the nine patch to the new look.

don't know the name but looks easy to draft.

Tinabug 02-19-2011 09:39 AM

After my pink comment, I took a second look and thought "oh no" she's going to think I'm color blind! I do love your quilt and I am not a pink lovin' woman either.
Enjoy your weekend!
