What quilt projects will you finish by September 30, 2010?

I am giving myself a deadline to finish up some of my projects by September 30th and wanted to know who wants to join me and if so just post a note so we can see if we get more projects done.

This way we will have others to motivate us to get some projects finished.

I'm finishing a baby quilt this week for the Ceisis Preganacy Center, then my nine square by the 30th. I'm with you, Carol

I need to finish a "Beach Babes" wall hanging and a Halloween wallhanging for my grandsons. Okay, it's in writing, now I have to do it!

I finished a baby quilt this pass week for a friend.. Now I am going to make 7 lap quilt of my mom's clothes. For My sisters and brothers. I figure it's going to take me right though the winter.. Got my work cut out for me. But it will be fun.....

GrammaNan 08-10-2010 07:30 PM

Hmmm, what a great question. I am going to try to get a DP9 finished for my niece and several totes made. I would also like to get started on some snowmen dish towels by then. Good idea, thanks for the motivation.

earthwalker 08-10-2010 07:34 PM

I have a WIP made from completely recycled fabric which I need to get a hurry up with, need to start a Rail Fence for one of my sons and must work more on my Grandmother's Garden. Maybe this will give me the kick I need!

justwannaquilt 08-10-2010 07:47 PM

Hmm, I know I have a bunch of quilt stuff that needs to be worked on but I really need to get around to making Halloween costumes. We all five always dress up as a Disney movie. This year my daughter wants to do the 1970 Disney movie The AristoCats.

On my quilting list is....train track mat for Liams train set (Christmas), Mackenzie's paper doll quilt and book (Christmas), Zach's hungry caterpillar quilt (Christmas)and I hope to at least work on the uneven log cabin blocks for Jeff's quilt.

I probably won't finish anything because I will be traveling in your neck of the woods, CraftyBear!!! I won't have room to bring my machine along. And I hate handwork!

cjomomma 08-10-2010 08:05 PM

If I keep up this pace I will have nothing done by Sept. 30th. I seem to have lost my motivation for some reason.

jazzy519 08-10-2010 08:13 PM

At least 1 Quilt done for grandson

lovequilts 08-10-2010 08:14 PM

I have an American Jane quilt to finish, a "take 5" and another lap quilt but has no name. Also working on a bunch of "hexies" and an embrodery project

OneMoreQuilt 08-10-2010 08:22 PM

Great idea to put it in writing. Makes it official! I want to get a new quilt finished for my DH and begin one for my son (just got engaged).

mrspete 08-10-2010 08:45 PM

Well, if I could find a place big enough to lay out my choc/raspberry quilt I could at least pin it. No room to spread out anything around here. But I would like to finish this one and a lap quilt I have in the drawer. Doing some sewing crafts for church craft sale coming up in Nov. So might be another quilt or two in that mix to finish up. Just doing swaps right now. strips, winter and secret angel. and I'm a chillin'!

Blessings,
Ruth

I have several quilts that I'm working on right now that have to be done by Dec. 1. Yesterday I caught up on my Buck-a-block Thangles club by making the last 5 blocks, did my BOM for this Saturday, and make the remaining 5 blocks for GGD's quilt that each block had 8 Y seams. I've got 5 more to go on the other GGD's quilt and then those two, a couch throw for my brother and a quilt for a grandson to do. I'm hoping to have most of them done by the end of September. Plus I'm also hoping to have two other BOM's that I'm working on (but I'm months behind) done by then. I'm going to a retreat at Threads of Time in Danville, Il. the last week of Sept. so I should be able to get a lot done there. ANYONE CARE TO JOIN ME?

If you're around the Illinois/Indiana state line, near Interstate 74, be sure and stop in at Threads of Time in Danville, Il. It's a wonderful quilting store.

Just take the Bowman Ave. Exit, at the ramp stop sign turn right. At the next stop sign, Perrysville Rd, turn right. Follow that road (it curves) to another stop sign, keep following that road (it becomes Buchanan) for about 4 blocks and ToT is on the right. You can't miss it, there's a huge oldfashioned clock outside.

Yesterday, I finished up a quilt top that I started about 5 years ago. Everything seemed to go wrong with it but I hung in there and got her done! My goal is to get that quilted and done by Sept. 30. I also have a few more scrappy tops to quilt. I also need to finish up my tablerunner for the swap on this site and send it out by Aug. 31. Then on to the Christmas stuff!

I need to finish a hand quilting project. Our club has an annual quilt show in October and I would love to have it ready by then! I have about 30 of the 48 - 8" blocks quilted, and of course, nothing done on the borders yet.

Our club did this project together a couple of years ago. I designed it, and two people finished theirs and had them in the show last year. The top has languished in the "this one next" pile since January 2008! So it's definitely time!

I actually really, really like the top. It's just finding the sit down time to hand quilt, you know?

Blessings!

I need to get borders on a queen size and a king size quilt and get both quilted before our guild's show in October. I also need to make sleeves and some labels for the ones that I do have finished. The problem is that it's been so hot here and we don't have AC that I haven't felt like wrestling with all of that fabric. I guess I should get up at 5 on a couple of mornings and just get it done. Borders are just not my favourite thing to do even though I have read all of the tricks and tips. I know I have to get moving because DD has to help me sandwich and pin them before she heads back to college. I tried having her older sister help me and it just didn't work nearly as well. DD#2 has been helping me since she was little and will make a great quilter some day when she decides it's what she wants to do.

Deborah12687 08-11-2010 03:44 AM

I am making a table cloth, wall hanging, sleeves to put on my house plants and plant pokes for fall and winter, crocheting black doilies and sewing orange and yellow fabric on the back of them. Got other ideas to but not sure if I will get it all done.

ranger 08-11-2010 03:51 AM

I have 5 tops that I want to get quilted. That's my goal.

It would also be nice if I could get the 2 baby quilts done...I'm doing the blocks 'quilt-as-you-go'.....and finish another top that's in the works, but that isn't likely to happen

cjomomma 08-11-2010 03:53 AM

If I can find the fabric for the back of my king size jelly roll quilt then I would love to get it done.

I'm with you - have 4 tops intended to be Christmas gifts this year. I enjoy piecing more than the actual quilting - so now it's time to buckle down and get these finished :)

Enjoy this group so much 8-)

eeraemore 08-11-2010 04:20 AM

I want to finish binding two quilts that are sitting patiently on my chair....one "skull" quilt for my nephew for Christmas and an aqua/brown one I'm not terribly fond of. Also want to finish a "Thinking outside the block" quilt top that I've started and maybe put some work into a Christmas quilt top I started last year.

If my sister finally decides on a wedding date for this fall, then I may have to reorganize and reprioritize to quilt a quilt top I made for her and her fiance! ;) Oh that's just some things (there are so many "to-dos" I'm leaving out!), but Sept. 30 isn't that far away!

earlylace 08-11-2010 04:31 AM

My mom's 9 patch doggie quilt. And my GD crib quilt. Lace

thequilterslink 08-11-2010 05:36 AM

I need to have 5 totes done by mid Sept....what am i doing here?

Char 08-11-2010 05:48 AM

2 small quilts that need binding, one baby quilt (not yet started), several "birthday blocks for my "Featherweight" friends, and finish putting my birthday block quilt together etc., etc..
Those are the most pressing.
aaargh!!!

lynnie 08-11-2010 08:08 AM

i bought the block of the month from joanns the aqua, brown beige one about 2 yrs ago, took it out last nght and swore i'd finish it by sept. i need some encouragement and a GIANT push!!!!

dphelps 08-11-2010 09:13 AM

I have two throws pieced and sandwiched that are in line for quilting, another pieced, four bags to make, a pillow to embroider and sew together, pajamas to make...and the list goes on until Christmas. Whew! In between all that, I am moving the first of October.

Corry 08-11-2010 09:19 AM

I am about half way thru with my horse themed quilt. I would hope to be done by the end of September. I started it the first of May and wanted to be done piecing by the end of July but there is so much embroidery that the July goal was not realistic. I only have 9 more blocks to embroider so September I think I can do. I also want to add another border to the Wack and Stack quilt I pieced in February and then will quilt that. All by the end of September?? Maybe...lol

jemma 08-11-2010 09:21 AM

none--- because i am enjoying this board far too much

Sugarfoot 08-11-2010 12:51 PM

I have to finish a wall hanging. Some more quilting and then binding. Next, a jelly roll quickie. Beautiful material but I still cannot find the jelly roll striped material I am dying for! Hope to finish the two above by the deadline.

GrammaO 08-11-2010 01:00 PM

By September 30th I hope to finish one quilt that needs binding, then get my daughter's flip-flop/beach themed quilt done and off to the quilters, two baby panels that need quilted and bound, and two baby shower gift quilts. Wow, now that I put it in writing I think I better hurry or I'm not going to make a dent!

sewingladydi 08-11-2010 08:16 PM

Absolutely have to finish girl baby quilt for husband's co-worker. And need to make a boy baby quilt for a friend of by best friend.

And try and knock out a few for QFK. And I have an unfinished project (ok, maybe 6)so I'd like to completely finish at least one of those.

I'm tired just reading that list!

craftybear 08-12-2010 02:43 PM

Wow, it looks like all of us has lots of projects to finish up this year.

This will be fun and I hope all of you get your projects done so we can find more projects to make
