I'm not near being finished with this quilt, but, I would like advise on what quilting design you would use.
I am a beginner at machine quilting, I have only done 4 so far, all my other quitls I have hand quilted. I purchased the Flynn quilting frame, which I really, really love, but, like I said, I'm a beginner. The 4 quilts I have quilted using the Flynn system were either all over swirls, or the stempleing. Working up the nerve to go out on a limb and do feathers and such. So, what's your thoughts????? I am also adding two of the quilts I machine quilted. |

Here are the other two quilts along with the Flynn system with my first T=shirt quilt loaded.

Oh no help from me but I know someone will give you some ideas. Lovely quilt top and quilts
|
Who would that be??????????? I would love to hear from them.

Really like the quilts! I am a very beginner so I probably don't know anything ... but maybe it would be nice to simply follow the circular shapes, sort of like stitch in the ditch. It would give you practice to follow the outlines while you work up the nerve to do something more elaborate.
Looks excellent so far. |
Looks like a beautiful quilt to be. Not sure how to quilt it though. Your other work looks really nice too.

I have a book at home with a quilt similar to this. I will take a look at it and let you know what they chose to do. I'm sure it will give you some ideas.

looks beautiful.
question about the quilt. is this the layout? are you doing sashing? is this a utility quilt or for hanging? |
this quilt has so much work in it that i wouldn't choose to experiment on it. i would hand quilt and keep practicing on ones that i wouldn't cry over if i didn't like the results.
the hardest thing to do on a frame is stitching 1/4 inch away from the seams, and, imho, that's what what shows off the work best. (and sid) i think if you fill it up with stippling you lose the rhythm of the curves. |
Oh, I didn't realize that stitching 1/4" from the seams would be so hard in a frame. Now that I know though, I definitely agree with Butterflywing. Ot looks like you have put a lot of work into the piecing so it might be better to save this for when you are more confident.
Also, I'm sure this would look incredible with hand stitching 1/4" from the seams. I don't have the skill or patience for that, but it seems like you do. |
