Why not replicate the embroidery in the blank squares or just meander?

I don't have any idea, but those animals sure are cute.

I would use a grid and make it look like I was playing tic-tac-toe. That means I would connect the dots.

Depends on how you quilt the embroidered squares. you need to have the same density of quilting throughout.

i am planing on sewing a outline around the animals and stitching in the ditch around all the blocks which are 12" by 12".

it took me a month to embroider all the squares

also the quilt is for a baby boy

What about echoed hearts in the green squares?

Cute quilt!

How about moons or stars in green blocks.

keep the ideas coming.

I would quilt outlines of animal motifs in the green blocks, with a thread which will show up on the fabric. You could reproduce the animals already done in embroidery, or you could quilt in new ones. Since it's for a boy, you could also quilt in masculine "toys" or activities: sports items, fishing items, bicycle, truck, the latest "monster" toy, Elmo, Big Bird, etc. Coloring books might have nice outlined images to browse through.

How about just a big heart? It is a quick quilting job and nice for a child's quilt.

Now I need to decide on what color the backing should be.

Any ideas? :)
