I have several different brands that I use. But I've learned from the QB here that you mustn't ever change rulers in mid cutting or you'll be sorry :(

We use Creative Grids rulers. We have 24.5 x 6.5, 24.5 x 8.5 and 12.5 square. When we took a quilt class the instructor recommended that we pick one line of rulers and stick with it. She liked the Creative Grids, and all we had was a bargain ruler that came in the starter pack we bought. We liked her rulers so we decided to follow her recommendation. I think there is some wisdom in staying with one line of rulers.
Regarding the "sticky" on the back, I don't have any trouble with it moving the fabric like some of you have said yours do. Darren |
I too use omnigrid, and love them. but what i dont understand about them is the angle lines. I probably would need someone to show me, but I just dont understand how/why to use them. You cant cut on these lines, and i JUST DONT GET IT lol.

I hope that made sense. LOL |
I bought my omnigrids at Joann Fabrics.

I have tried several different brands, but settled on Creative Grids. Definitely like these the best.

most of my favorite rulers are from Wrights. nice thin lines; markings for 1/8th inches; not overly expensive; most are good for more than one thing; they're just great. i'm especially fond of their triangle rulers. the easiest on the planet (for me, anyway. i won't criticize anybody else's favorites.)
i recently forked out the bucks for an Olfa frosted ruler. may i say .... oooooooooooooooooooooo is it nice! also nice thin lines; 1/8th inch markings; easy to read; doesn't slide around all over the place (but doesn't pull the fabric out of wack); and has easy to use markings for all the most common angles - including 15 degrees. it wasn't cheap, but i didn't have the sense to hunt for it with a big discount coupon in my hand. still ... worth every penny. |
I have most of what has been mentioned already, but my favorite is definitely Olfa frosted. I have two different sizes and really love them.

On the other hand, I had never heard of June Taylor rulers. Most of mine are OmniGrids...

Now I'm getting new ruler envy.
I have so many already, that I hate to spend more money on them. The ones that were first recommended to me - Quilter's Rule - I would stay away from now because of the thick lines. |
