What Say You All for my 4-Patch Posy???

This was not a hard pattern, but because of summer activities, etc., I haven't been able to finish quickly. Now I am ready to be DONE. Hence the question, what do I do now? I was determined to follow a pattern for once and not be too taxing on my non-mathematical brain. I bought the focus fabric sometime ago because I loved the vibrant colors and there was barely enough to make the 4-patches. Then I hunted down the coordinating fabrics. I don't have enough focus fabric to go around the borders per the pattern. I am short on the white by about 10 inches. I was thinking I needed a white border to "finish it off" and I actually do remember where I bought that. Do I call it good and bind it with striped fabric? To put stars in the corner, I would really be short on white because they should be set on point to go with the rest of the design. Could I get by making smaller stars or smaller squares? I really need a fresh set of eyes. It is 80 x 90 as it stands now. What say ye? Would it look dorky to leave as is because I don't have enough dark green to do even the binding. (I did change my mind about the coordinates and sometimes just bought enough home to audition.)

I don't have any advice as to how to proceed, but it reminds me of a tin of Christmas candy! It "sparkles". Very clever!

PaperPrincess 09-16-2016 03:58 PM

I think it looks wonderful as is! If you are happy with the size, I would go ahead and bind it.

Jane Quilter 09-16-2016 04:13 PM

its a beauty.

joe'smom 09-16-2016 04:28 PM

Very pleasing as is!

BETTY62 09-16-2016 04:45 PM

I love it and think it's awesome as you have it. The fabric you selected is beautiful.

quiltsRfun 09-16-2016 04:52 PM

I'll fall back on something Mr. Rogers always said. "I like you just the way you are."

osewme 09-16-2016 05:02 PM

I love it just the way it is also. I really like the top & bottom stripe border. It's really pretty.

mandyrose 09-17-2016 02:15 AM

it's beautiful the way it is,if your short on fabric maybe it was meant to be it sure is pretty

twinkie 09-17-2016 02:45 AM

I think it is beautiful as it is.

Battle Axe 09-17-2016 03:19 AM

Depends on where and what and who it is for. Is this the size they requested. I just get so aggravated when things come out too big and hang on the floor. Make it so it fits where it goes.

Battle Axe 09-17-2016 03:22 AM

Is that the name of the pattern? 4 Patch Posy? Who is the designer? Thanks.....I really do like it.

Donnasue 09-17-2016 03:48 AM

I love it as it is also. What is the name of the pattern?

Reba'squilts 09-17-2016 03:49 AM

I think it is a wonderful quilt. If the size is right bind it as is. Love it!!!

Thumbelina 09-17-2016 04:28 AM

Don't have any advice but it makes me think of ribbon candy we had at Christmas time. Beautiful quilt and colors.

farmquilter 09-17-2016 04:31 AM

The quilt is beautiful and love the Posy blocks in the stars, have not seen that version before.
I think, go ahead with the binding.

quilterpurpledog 09-17-2016 04:39 AM

It is beautiful the way it is. The fabric choices just sparkle. I have that problem frequently-somethng I choose from my stash for a project just isn't quite enough! I guess that is why stashes seem to grow.

The pattern is Keyboard Kaleidoscope by Marilyn Foreman, [email protected]. Think I actually bought it on ebay. I liked a quilt posted and then the hunt was on for the pattern. The top isn't "for" anyone or anything. I love S&W and am constantly on the lookout for patterns that are made for them or are adaptable to them. Just love, love, love letting gorgeous fabric do the work.

zozee 09-17-2016 05:01 AM

I love it like it is. I would bind it in the stripe fabric, cut on the bias, if you have it . Or in a pale green if you don't have it.

mcdaniel023 09-17-2016 05:13 AM

I love it! I would just bind if it is the size you want. By the way, I liked it so much, I just ordered the pattern. :)

The pattern includes tabletopper, throw, twin, queen and king size so it does it all.

hairquilt 09-17-2016 06:14 AM

Just a drop dead gorgeous quilt!! Perfect piecing and love the bright colors!

carolynjo 09-17-2016 06:58 AM

It looks "finished" to me.

judykay 09-17-2016 07:30 AM

Looks done and beautiful to me. Just bind it and call it a day. Very pretty.

barny 09-17-2016 08:12 AM

I love the top pic. It is perfect.

mac 09-17-2016 10:45 AM

For me, it looks done as is. It is very beautiful. In the creative field, sometimes our biggest problem is not knowing when something is finished and we just keep trying to guild the lily.

2manyhobbies 09-18-2016 04:45 AM

It's a very usable size. I'd bind 'er and use 'er.

pegquilter8 09-18-2016 05:46 AM

Leave it as is. Quilts do not need a border all the time. It is beautiful.

Texas_Sue 09-18-2016 06:45 AM

The quilt is beautiful! I wouldn't add anything but a binding to it. You've done an awesome job. I love this pattern and you're colors are wonderful.

quiltingbuddy 09-18-2016 07:19 AM

I love it. And I agree it just needs a binding. Lovely quilt and very nice job!

Billy'swife 09-18-2016 07:54 AM

Wow.....so very beautiful! If you're happy with the size, I wouldn't stress over adding more......it's gorgeous!

I agree. I like it the way it is.

So I guess this would be another pattern you didn't follow entirely...heee...hee...hee...But that's what makes it your quilt!

Painiacs 09-18-2016 10:26 AM

I think it's beautiful! ! Love the bright colors!!

I love MCH's description of Christmas Candy - so true!

I love the way it is now!

quilt9226 09-18-2016 11:37 AM

I think it is a gorgeous quilt. If you are happy with it, call it finished.

GeeGee 09-18-2016 06:36 PM

I like it. Not every quilt needs a border, in fact sometimes a border takes away from the design. If you are satisfied with the size and how it looks on your bed, then just bind it as is.
