I bought some fabric at Joann's last night, brought it home and washed it, and then ironed it. As I ironed it, I realized there was a weird yellowish/brownish spot on the edge of the fabric.

I'm afraid that if I put it into the quilt then the fabric might eventually end up that same color. So I'm going to just buy a new piece of fabric.

Should I try and take the fabric back?

It will not hurt to try. They may or may not take it back, depending what it looks like. Is it clear that the fabric changed or does it look like a spot? It is in their best interest to take it and keep a customer happy, but we all know how that this is not always the case.

it all depends on the store manager. they may take it or not. washed, perhaps not. but it's worth a try!!

It is only 1/2 a yard that I bought, so it's not expensive to replace. The spot is along one of the raw edges.

1/2 yard or not, it cost you to go get it, purchase it....

Take the material with you when you go to buy more. Make sure to check along the salvage to make sure there is not more spots there. If there is then show the washed material to the clerk. They should take it back if this fabric on the bolt has the same spot.

Hi there. If you bought it at the one by you on Old Granbury Road, take it back and show them. They have always been good to me about problems with purchases. Take your receipt too. Glad you are sewing away. Press it nicely and fold it back like it was. Let me know. Would be interested. Then you could go up the road to the Harbor frt and buy more blades. LOL

I think they will take it back. I recently bought over 2 yards of tan fleece. When I unfolded it sometime later I found a "v" shaped rip in it. There was no way to mend it or to cut around it. I took it back and showed them. Two cutting ladies looked at each other and rolled their eyes, but they cut me a new piece.

It won't hurt to try and take it back. The only thing they can do is say no
