Make her a lap robe with Minkee (sp) on the back. She can take it to Chemo treatments. People who go thru this tell me they are cold all the time.

If the width is 58 to 60 inches we buy that much in yardage then sew it together leave an opening for turning, turn and top stitch about an inch from the edge all around and you have a double fleece that's doubly warm. We donate these to cancer units. We also buy remanent's and piece them together to make the lap robes.

I have been through the chemo treatments and I would suggest a quilt ( but maybe a little larger then lap size). A bag to carry her quilt in and maybe something to occupy her time while she is in treatment. If she likes to read...give her a good book. If she like to crochet... maybe some beautiful yarn, etc. I'll keep your friend in my prayers.

Being a breast cancer survivor a fleece blanket would be the last thing I used because I had hot flashes. However, if she will lose her hair, a quilted hat or patchwork scarf would be great or a quilted bag to take with her to treatments to carry a book or other goodies. I took sewing projects with me during my chemo.

So did I miss the response. What did you decide? No matter what you made it will be great.

All the suggestions are good - I still get cold 2+ years after BC chemo. I wrap up in a lap quilt to watch TV in the SUMMER for goodness sakes! unless the temp is above 80. I get occasional WARM flashes, but not often enough to keep me warm - my hands and feet are ALWAYS cold.

One thing not mentioned so far - small pillows - about 7" x 12" to protect the mastectomy area from seat belts. I walked around the house with mine under my arm to remind myself to NOT raise my arm for however long (I've forgotten the exact time) I was not supposed to raise it.

I have decided to do a fleece double sided blanket for chemo.
