What should my husband get me for my birthday?

May 14th is my birthday. May 13th is Mother's Day. What should I ask for on my two special days? Two prepaid Visa cards so I can online shop at quilting shops and at LQSs or have him take me two hours out of town to my favorite LQS so I can pick out fabric for a couple of quilts? If we go out of town, we hit a casino and can eat the buffet, but if I have the gift cards, I'm not limited to one store. I can buy scissors and fabric or anything...maybe an Aquiquilt (I'm dreaming big). So, any suggestions? My husband always makes a big deal over Mother's Day and my birthday and with them right next to each other...SCORE!!!

Personally, I would go with the gift cards just so you can buy what you want now and if you have any left over, stalk daily deals until you use it all.

Either, or, sounds fine to me. I'm sure you will make a good decision. Happy b-day fellow Taurus!

:)

My daughter's name is Annie. I love that name! And thanks for wishing me a happy b-day fellow Taurus!!

Neesie 05-02-2012 11:38 AM

I'd choose the gift cards. :)

thimblebug6000 05-02-2012 12:01 PM

I would probably chose the trip, then he gets to share your enjoyment of the time together as well.

Why not both. Tell him you would like the Visa gift cards & express you would like him to take you to the fabric store to check out the fabrics. If you don't find what you want there or only part of what you like, you can use the rest of the cards on line. That way you can have your cake & eat it too.

BellaBoo 05-02-2012 12:47 PM

LOL. Enjoy your day! I always tell DH I already bought my birthday, Mother's Day, Anniversary, Valentine, Christmas, New Year Eve, St. Patrick's, Halloween, President's Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Easter, and Thanksgiving gifts, he doesn't have to do anything but give me a hug. Works for him and really nice for me.

Go for the gift cards! But if he insists on getting the gift.......get a TG1600 Quilting & Sewing Iron! It is Fabulous!!

allie1 05-02-2012 01:21 PM

you gave me a good idea I'll try telling my kids and husband to. my birthday is the 12th. I always ask for gift cards to the shops around here but they don't get any . they always give nice gifts but not what I really want :(. thanks I'm starting to dream too.I have a birthday month and that means that my husband gives me a gift every day all month and I love it . last year he got a lot of things that go with sewing like bobbins.thread, candy, pattern book. gas card. I think he does it because mothers day is so close but I have to say I like getting older because I have a hole month of opening gifts:thumbup: joanie

DogHouseMom 05-02-2012 01:27 PM

I would choose that hubby takes you to the LQS and lunch - that way you get the stuff you want and you get to spend the day sharing it with hubby.

I love it when my husband gifts me with shopping and lunch/dinner. Not only did I get to shop and eat a good meal - I got to spend it with him and I didn't have to cook or clean!! SCORE!

Jingle 05-02-2012 01:30 PM

Get all you can. I buy my own gifts or I would be out of luck. Then I can get whatever I want. I also handle the money, makes it nice.

babyboomerquilter 05-02-2012 02:18 PM

Its all good! My Birthday is May 7th. Happy Birthday fellow Taurus!

Dingle 05-02-2012 02:25 PM

Go with the gift card. One that is never ending!

hopetoquilt 05-02-2012 05:07 PM

Why not pick a favorite pattern and get all the associated items for it?

mighty 05-02-2012 05:47 PM

Both sound like a lot of fun, just choose which is best for you!!!! Happy birtyday!!!!

A birthday month? Do you mean you celebrate your birthday for 30 days with lots of gifties? Personally I LOVE that idea and think I just may institute that rule in June as I'm turning SIXTY and I'm not really happy about it!! LOL!

Sewflower 05-02-2012 06:49 PM

I ordered a featherweight for my birthday and told my husband he bought it for my birthday. I would chose the trip. DH and you its a win win!

Me, too... more variety. Have him bring you some yummy take out for while you're shopping online!

My birthday is May 12th as well! Connection!!!!:)

allie1 05-03-2012 02:24 AM

Yes he gives me gifts every day. some big some small. I think everyone should try It. someone I worked with years ago told me about It so I started It when I turned 30 and we have been doing it for 20 years I think it takes him a month to plan what he is going to get and how he going to do it yes try it

jcrow 05-03-2012 06:26 AM

I think that gift a day is a good idea! But I like the BIG gift on my birthday and Mother's Day!!

raedar63 05-03-2012 06:32 AM

AHHHH choices ! I would be happy to get any type of gift , my family (all men) don't seem to think gifts are necessary lol

dunster 05-03-2012 07:39 AM

My DH's birthday is also on May 14. In 1967 that day was also Mother's Day, and I gave him our first child, a son, for his birthday. Try topping that gift! LOL

jcrow 05-03-2012 09:10 AM

A son for your husband's birthday is the best gift of all. Happy birthday to him and your son both!!!

bunbytes 05-04-2012 03:21 AM

My birthday is May 7th. Wow, there are a lot of creative Taurus people on the board! I already gave husby a list of things I wanted, with specific links, over a month ago. LOL Our eldest son's b'day is April 22, so when I started looking for things for him . . . just couldn't help thinking about me, too. Of course, all but one of my requests has to do with sewing and quilting. Only a few more days! At the upcoming age of 59, you'd think I'd be less of a kid about this!

deedum 05-04-2012 03:32 AM

My birthday is in May and I gave myself a birthday present for the first time. I went to Paducah Ky to the big show. It was great. I love the idea of gift cards too! Happy Birthday to all May babies!

Sister#1 05-04-2012 03:38 AM

Score, indeed! My birthday is the 7th so I get to score, too. No matter which you choose, have a happy one or two or three!

Caswews 05-04-2012 05:09 AM

Choices ? why does there have to be choices ?? LOL either sound good -but I probably would go with the gift cards !LOL
Happy birthday to you !!

hoppa 05-04-2012 05:34 AM

Since you've got such a sweet hubby, I'd vote for going out of town, let him enjoy the "gift" too.
but gift cards are always a treat.

yippie 05-04-2012 07:56 AM

I would do both, a visa card and the trip that way you both can have fun

Mousie 05-04-2012 12:08 PM

sounds like your heart already knows what it wants, you lucky quilter, you

fireworkslover 05-04-2012 09:20 PM

Or do you want any more feet for your machine. I've been experimenting w/ couching and find it's a neat way to add texture to a project. Some feet will let you send sequins, beads, thick threads or yarn thru. Just a thought. Personally, I think I'd want a prepaid credit card, then I could either spend it online or at a store I visited in person. Happy Birthday, by the way!

threads57 05-05-2012 05:19 AM

If finances allow, I would get the accu quilt go. I love it. I purchase the dies when I can get them on sale. The accuracy in cutting is wonderful.

nstitches4u 05-05-2012 04:36 PM

Go with the gift cards. Then you can get what you want. And he might take you to your favorite LQS too. Think big! lol
