What size to make doll quilt?
My god-daughter's daughter (3 y/o sweetheart) has asked me to make her a quilt for her doll. She has the doll cradle that was made by her grandfather. The cradle measures 16.5 x 8.5. This seems like an extremely odd size to make for the doll quilt so what size would you make it? I have a very simple butterfly design that would look really odd if it were made to fit that size.
Thanks for your suggestions. |
It would need to be larger if she puts her dolly under the quilt plus some to tuck in around the edges so maybe 15 by 22 inches.

I'd make it the size to wrap her dolly in!

i don't think that it matters to the child... they are happy to have a quilt for their dolly. however, i agree with Country 1 in that it would be good to make it big enough to wrap the dolly in when it is not in the cradle.

I would help to know if the cradle has open sides or sides like a crib. I agree that it should be big enough to wrap the "baby" in when she's not sleeping.

Thank you all for your responses. When I asked her mom what size her baby doll is, I got the cradle size. I think I'm going to go with the 15 x 22". I'm sure that'll be big enough to wrap up the doll and any extra can be tucked in around her when she's in her cradle.
Thanks again! |
My SIL made a doll blanket for her granddaughter. She made it extra long, and then folded the excess length up about 1/5th of the length, sewed the sides together to make a 'pocket'. It slides over the doll bed mattress to keep the doll blanket secure on the little mattress.
