If this is your first quilt top, I would suggest no larger than about 60 x 80 - which I call adult couch quilts. Big enough to cover most adults, but still fairly manageable.

Now - if you had asked what would be a good size for a specific use, we might have given more specific answers. :)

I have never made a quilt to any specific size. They are as big or small as I want. Right now i have a quilt on my Queen size bed and it only covers the top of the bed. It looks realy cool IMHO.
