It says not to use machine sewing thread and to use a short needle but what does that mean?

What have you used that worked?

Even the hand sewing thread snaps when I give it a pull.

I am using clover embroidery needles. What do you use?

It would have been helpful if the instructions would have suggested why type of thread and needles to use!

Indeed! I think it is too vague. I did see some people use double thick machine thread but I find that too cumbersome for 130 or so yo yos.

How about "hand quilting thread"? It runs thicker than sewing thread. Any needles that work should be fine.

I use hand quilting thread or coats & clarks dual duty plus that is thicker. I just use a regular sewing needle .

Thank you Tartan and sewbizgirl. I am planning to make some today. Let me see if I have any of those threads.

hand quilting thread should help but it makes me think you are pulling too tightly or the thread is actually old. Good luck.

I've just used what ever needle and thread that's handy...I don't think I've had a problem with breakage.

Me too! I found cotton thread to match the fabrics and grabbed a needle and away I went.... hope you enjoy making them, they can become addictive.

I have made them with the Clover. I use a large size needle, the stitches don't show so use whatever is easier for you. The thread needs to be a strong as you will pull it tight. The Clover oval yo yo maker makes perfect flower petals.
