What tool to use to cut up old blue jeans?

I'm getting a bunch of old blue jeans given to me, and want to cut them up into quilt squares. Is there a special cutter or tool to use besides scissors to use? I think I remember reading somewhere about some kind of special scissors for jeans, but can't locate any.

Maybe I'm just remembering wrong, but if any of you have any ideas I would appreciate it.

I used a pair of these last week to cut some jeans up. I could cut through the jeans like butter. [h=1]Fiskars Amplify RazorEdge Fabric Shears 10"[/h]

I bought my spring loaded scissor at Walmart for doing rag quilts and cutting blue jeans. If the jeans are big enough, lay the leg flat on the cutting matt and rotary cut inside both of the leg seams.

I've done just fine with my 60mm rotary cutter (fresh blade mandatory). Fold the jeans so you can slice off the inseam as Tartan suggested and continue disecting from there. Piece of cake.

The snips for " ragging" them are helpful. I bought a pair of heritage cutlery 6- 1/2 inch snips, model VP7.

As far as cutting the jeans into ssquares or strips, a sharp scissor or rotary cutter work fine.

I have arthritis in my hands and used an electric scissors to cut jeans into large pieces. My electric scissors are old and made specifically for cutting fabric, but it is similar to this one:

Many people like the Accuquilt Go! for cutting blue jeans (one layer at a time).

My husband bought me the Baby Go and bought the template for cutting the edges also. Saved me a lot of time and hurting hands.

I use a cutlery scissor for heavy cutting, too. Works fine.
