after cutting out a few pieces for blocks, I've decided that I want the sewing lines, so I want to make templates.

I'm a total newbie here. What do you use for templates? Some kind of plastic, acetate? Where do you get it?

When I recently made templates, I took the paper template, put double sied tape on it and layed some template material (I got used x-ray film from a friend of mine - think you can get some wherever they do x-rays - they just discard it I believe), then just cut arround the template, leaving the paper stuck to the underside. I didn't have to trace around the paper template, transfer any template numbers or anything to the template material. It worked slick!

You can buy template plastic at Joanns or Hancocks

I use x-ray film also. My daughter and dad pick it up where they work. It works great.
