I am going to machine quilt for the first time. I have my walking foot. What is the thing on the upper right hand side? Do I use it in quilting or is it there for another purpose?
thanks

That is to hook onto the screw on the shank. It helps to secure the walking foot.

It slides on the screw that tightens your needle.

That little arm which fits over the screw that tightens your needle is what helps the little feed dogs on the foot move your fabric along. Essentially what a walking foot does is provide another set of feed dogs above the fabric so the fabric feeds evenly. Clear as mud?

Yes, that lever helps to "crank" the top of the fabric through the presser foot :D:D:D

Move the lever up and down when it is off of your machine. You can see it move the mechanism by the presser foot :D:D:D

You would think they would put directions on how to install. Mine had none!!! Took me a while to figure mine out, too. LOL
