What will you be doing?
Tomorrow is National Quilting Day. What will you be doing.
Our guild meets tomorrow and we will be having our Community Service Day staying after the meeting to quilt all day. |
Tomorrow I will definitely be doing something related to quilting, just not sure exactly what yet. I'll probably work some more on my Patchwork City quilt blocks. And I might start quilting the top 1/3rd of a "quilt along" quilt where I'm going to use the quilt-as-you-go method.
I have 4 NICU quilt tops to sandwich, working on a new star pattern quilt, and looking through fabric and patterns to match up! I think GagaSmith and Sharon are doing a fabric run to Endicott, NY, but I have an early hair appointment that prevents me from going.....so I will 'suffer' in my sewing room when I get home.
I will be working a sidewalk sale at the quilt shop where I work. Will also purchase some bargains.
i wonder if the shops will be having any good specials
I will continue cutting blocks from my scraps. Been doing this for a week or so. Took last weekend to go see Grandson. Granddaughter in law and 5 month old Great Granddaughter.
I also have cut strips, got lots of scraps and hope to get sewing on them. |
Going to Quilters Day Out in Lexington, KY
I quilted outside on our deck again today and now I have two full rows completely quilted on our big Mariner's. My husband made me promise to finish ours before doing any more for others. It's been in the works nearly 6 yrs now, so it was time. I'm actually having fun with it.
I will be practicing...with my practice blocks/strips/etc, maybe I will try a hexie too.
Going to A Mointain Quilt fest in Pigeoon Forge TN
I'm so jealous... I have a trade show to attend for our retail gift business so will be on the road most of the day tomorrow. I hope to at least get Block 10 done of the Splendid Sampler "Ohio".... I will be finishing a binding on one of my UFO's while a passenger in the car tomorrow.
Going to a yard sale that has fabric and quilt supplies. Hope I find some great deals
LQS is having an all day 20% off on everything in the store...But, I have my family celebrating Easter this Sunday (yes, I know that it is Palm Sunday). This the only day that most of the family was available and with 13 grandchildren we try to get as many as possible and celebrate...
That being said I am cooking ahead to I can enjoy the day with them. I will be finishing 2 UFO's next week. |
I'll be up bright and early and working with members of my Guild on the opportunity raffle quilt (which I'm in charge of)--we are using BonjourQuilting's Meadows quilt--but king size and darker greens and grays--so tomorrow everyone is bringing their floral fabric to prep faced applique blocks to attach. But I'm leaving at noon to come home and see the g-boys who are in town--haven't seen them since early Jan so pretty excited.
I'm working on a stack of charm square swirls - they all need to be sewn down with blanket stitch. It is taking forever but it will be pretty. Right now I am cutting 2 1/2" squares for the guild. They are planning a community event and need lots of squares.

I will be home working some more on my quilt blocks for the 1930's FWS quilt blocks, and in between that cutting out fabric bunnies for 4 kids for Easter, and hopefully make 3 Easter Mug Rugs for my regular Dr., and two nurses we always see at the clinic. The bunnies are for the two nurses kids. :) |
Staying in watching F1 my second passion. Will do section 2 of a quilt pattern sub cutting the long stripes. It is a very complicated pattern so one step at a time.
my friend and i will be teaching a quilting class.
afterward we'll visit the local guild's display at the community arts center. |
I'll be driving home from the AQS show in Lancaster. Collapsing for while after I hug my cats. And then this evening going to a potluck and folksing where I will be working on some quilt project while I sing.
Though I have seen references to National Quilting Day (week) in all the quilting emails I receive it didn't sink in until I opened this thread that TODAY is the day. I am going to do something special. I am going to take a personal lesson on the longarm at my local quilt store. I have wanted to do this for a long time. Now, I have the funds. I feel fairly confident about it because I have done quite a lot of FMQ on my home machine. I'm excited-and to think I am doing it on National Quilting Day. I guess I won't be forgetting the day I did it.
I am at a quilting retreat for three days.

well - did not know that it was National Quilting Day, but that is my plan. I am currently finishing up a Dr Seuss wallhanging that will go in my classroom. The quilting will be finished this morning. Then I'll be heading to the basement to work on my green quilt that is a log cabin variation from Judy Martin.
I do admit that I googled Dr Seuss quilts, and came across this that I liked, so i copied it. Wonky blocks for Dr Seuss just are so appropriate!! This is my green log cabin variation that is almost finished. I'm working on the border on the 2 longer sides. |
We have no power due to storms.so I am going to organize my room. Only thing I can do with out power and a double window

Sewing the blocks together on the teal quilt and finish up quilting plus doing the binding on this baby quilt.
Local guild had a community service sew-in from 12 to 9 pm on Thursday. About 50 quilters were there for some part of the day. Today and tomorrow I'll be sure to spend some time on MY OWN projects!
Quilting nested circles on my Jacob's Ladder UFO. It's taking forever...LOL
Maniac, those are lovely quilts. Did you do the quilting on the baby quilt? Rob |

I am working on my "Flurry of Snowmen". Twelve blocks with a snowman and a cute animal in each one. They are really shaping up in the last couple of weeks. Been working on them a lot.
Sewing a teepee, definitely not quilting but not too far off :P
Quilting a huge lap quilt for my husband. He wanted on he could tuck under his feet and yet come up to his chin, so he's getting one about 60x80! It is about half quilted.
I had a little time to work on some bitty blocks. Yay quilt day😊
I was able to spend about three hours hand quilting a quilt I have on the frame. I am nearly half way through. It is a mental mindset, but I am sure the second half goes faster. It seems to me like the second half is downhill.
We went to QDO in Lexington, then to Q for some awesome shopping, then to Chuey's. We made a full day of it. So much fun. Tomorrow, we have a road trip planned to Quilter's Trunk.
Skiing in the Mountains for last Winter fling. 34 degrees and expected snow. I will finish a birthday banner tomorrow with appliqués numbers tomorrow while everyone else goes back to school.
We have a quilt show on Saturday and Sunday. Over 200 entries and 40 vendors. What fun.
I met up with my quilting friends for lunch. We usually meet once a month at one of the gal's house to sew all day. But have not been able to get together since December. So, there was a guild show in town yesterday, some of the gals went, I couldn't go to that, and some others couldn't, so we met at a restaurant for lunch. We stayed 3.5 hours! What fun, laughing, joking, planning a road trip for fabric and starting initial planning for our annual retreat in October. So much fun! We all missed each other a lot. Thus the road trip in the next couple of weeks, on a Saturday. And the first Saturday of April we are getting together to sew again for the day. Hurray!

Hand quilting my Jane Stickle!
For three days I have been on a HIGH watching Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims and The Quilt Show Episodes. In HEAVEN.
I will be working on items that I plan to take to a craft fair the end of June, so I hope to finish up the projects that I have already cut out and are ready to sew.
I quilted at church yesterday for a few hours on our latest mission project: making washable sanitary pads for the girls in Africa at a school we support. They cannot go to school while they are having their period because they have no sanitary supplies. There are approximately 50 girls of that age so we hope to make 4 per girl and put them in a cute, colorful purse. We were able to sew 31 in the few hours we worked. Some traced patterns, some cut, some assembled the pads, and a last person brought the final cuts, including the PUL which made the pad waterproof. We are going to include a bar of soap in each kit as well. It was fun and tiring, but so worthwhile.
