What would you change?
I am trying to design this quilt, not sure if it's too busy, I want to use The Benetarex Eden Blue Kansas fabrics. I am trying to load a picture of my design from EQ7 but cannot post it, any suggestions I saved the picture in Word.

From the quilt view in EQ7, go to file/export image and save the quilt as a jpg. Then you can easily post the picture.

I'm not real good at this, but have you tried white triangles where the blocks meet the inside border? I'm trying to picture that and I'm not sure if that would be too much white or just right.
here's your request, I liked the other way best.

Sorry, I figured out how to delete the other posts that were wrong

I like both the options you've posted. I love blue and white quilts.
It is a very calming, serene quilt. I like the first version. Have you thought about mitering the corners on your borders? That would carry your on-point theme through the whole quilt.
I like the first pic with the blue instead of white. Very pretty quilt design and fabrics
I like it better without the white triangle s.
I like the first pic where all blue is used at the border points of contact. Less busy for the eye to look at.
I like it better with the white triangles at the edges - they go with the white cornerstones used in the rest of the quilt.
I would miter the border corners to go with the on-point setting of the blocks. Pretty quilt, either way. |
I like the white on all corners of the blocks and would miter the corners but then I prefer mitered corners on all quilts unless there are cornerstones in the borders. Unless you have something planned for the wide border you might want to try making the larger border two smaller ones or change to a solid to show off the quilting.
That is a really pretty design, I like both versions.
I think it is stunning just the way it is. Very well balanced in my eye.
One suggestion to try and see how it looks - I might continue the white corner stones on the outside edge in the blue border where the block sashing meets the border. It would make the blocks lay ontop of the inner border. Your second photo has triangles, I would use squares that go right into the border. Hope that is understandable. Just a thought. It is a very nice design and reminds me of the blue willow china. peace |
Yes, I plan to miter the corners.
I like the layout- I would however miter the border corners. other than that it is a winner any one would love to receive
I really like this..with your changes

I mitered the corners made the borders smaller, the only thing now is that if I use a print for the dark border it will be hard to see the feathers I plan on putting on there. Would I look okay with a solid, or should I just go with the print? Thanks everyone for your input.

Quilting with contrasting thread does seem to show up better on fabrics that are solid or read as a solid. Lay your thread on the fabric you are thinking about using, maybe even do a small basting stitch. Do you like it? That will help you make the decision.
I used a light tan thread on a quilt with a black backing. The quilt back was stunning even with my poor efforts at following a panto. Everyone loves the back more than the front. Edited to add: I really like your pattern. It's simple yet very attractive. I'm not a fan that loves a whole lot of little bitty pieces that have to be sewn together. I like the bigger blocks that show the fabric off. |
I really like the smaller border with the mitered corners.
both are beautiful but I think the first frames the blocks a little better, once you add the white triangles at the border... it seems to open the quilt up - if that makes any sense
Beautiful, I would change nothing!
I like the first picture best. Mittered corners would bee good. Really a lovely design.
They are both equally beautiful. If you can't decide, flip a coin. However it comes out, you will be pleased. froggyintexas

Personal choice here, I like them both and would take forever to figure which one to use. The fabric is lovely!
i love that a lot. i like the first version a little better. the white disrupts the flow of that beautiful pattern in my eyes.

I think it's beautiful.

I think it is lovely. I love your fabric choices. Either layout is exquisite. Is it a gift for me? If so, it is just right on!

that is really pretty. Nice job...
OOOhh! You can give that to me! Love it! I wouldn't change anything, but blue and white are always fresh and comforting colors.
