I have done 2 quilts--queen size from this panel. I put Delectable mountains in coordinating colors around the panel to enlarge it , then added more sashing and borders to enlarge in the deer print that is on the edge of your panel. Everyone loved the way it turned out.
Sorry I can,t put up a picture--they were grabbed up for Christmas gifts for the GS,s

mom-6, how do you find "blocks of the month and week section."

I just finished a purchased panel, I split the panel into three equal pieces from top to bottom. Used a coordinating color to separate the strips. Then added boarders. I like the way it turned out. I'm not home now but will try to remember to post a picture in a few days. Or if there is a way to remind me that would be great.

My thought was a quilt, throw or wall hanging? I think I would initially do squares in colours on the panel.

you can use sashing on the blocks to make them the same sizes

Is there any other fabric in the line maybe that you could use? This is really nice. Be sure and let us see what you do with it.

Here's the fabric for the panel. I'm going to start it this weekend. What do you think?

Many very good suggestions. Looks like the fabric will match well. Since you have 3 browns I think your overall quilt will feel brown. So if that is what you are going for great. If you have it, I would add a blue towards the aqua and grey range at least that is how it is showing up on my computer.

I like your fabric choices. As I was reading the older posts to this thread I thought of a different way of using the panel. Have you considered using the panel, with the borders cut off, as the focal block of a log cabin? Courthouse steps comes to my mind. The use the cut off borders as parts of the logs (or as cornerstones with a different LC variation) and move outward until you have the size you like.

The benefits of this board are so wonderful. I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever thought of a variation like this. For my entire life I've considered myself a good technician but without imagination. Now a spark. Thank you all so much.

teyla15 Sorry for the side move. Whatever you decide this will be a striking piece. Please share it with us.

Hi Teyla15, I read your PM to me and are you going to try to post the pictures of your fabric and patterns you are going to use when you start your quilt? I'll try to do mine, haven't posted pics in a while so it may prove to be a challenge.

Send it to me??? :D :D :D

Will look great no matter what you do with it.

I'd like to see a narrow black frame before you start the other borders and blocks. To me that would really set it off.

I may be too late for discussion, but a possibility would be to cut the deer and tree border off and then fussy cut them to make blocks around the center deer--then add border

KwiltyKahy 04-14-2014 05:46 AM

That is what I thought of as soon as I saw this panel. I'm sure it would be beautiful, whatever you decide to do.

I saw a panel similar at the last retreat I attended. The gal cut the panel in equal size blocks then added sashings to make it look like you were viewing it through a window that had the 12 panes. It was stunning. She then added strip borders to make it the size she wanted.

I had a panel similar to this, I used it once just bordered it and FMQ. I had more, but really hated it, so I gave it away so I didn't have to see it anymore.

I would trim off the outer border, it appears too busy and distracts from the main design.
