I was at hancock fabrics and couldn't resist the great deal......
i'm thinking maybe a dnp with solid in the middle squares?

leatheflea 07-15-2012 12:10 PM

Oh my some smaller print and solids would help calm it down! Cut fabric, some fussy cutting would work nicely with a log cabin or square in a square block. If you added some other fabrics Yellow brick road pattern would be cute also.

bearisgray 07-15-2012 12:15 PM

I would add some black solid to it.

IngeMK 07-15-2012 12:18 PM

when I bought them I was thinking table cloth for halloween , or quiltback. Now I'm tempted to try for a quilt :)

alfosa421 07-15-2012 05:39 PM

add the chartreuse like green!!!!! Just saw fat quarters for halloweenvisiting distant quilt shop-D9p sounds good Go for it

IngeMK 07-15-2012 06:03 PM

I love the suggestion to use chartreuse, thanks!

Tartan 07-15-2012 06:06 PM

I think fussy cutting the witch fabric for a Warm Wishes pattern would look great. Love your fabrics!

hsweany 07-16-2012 09:21 AM

I bought the fabric on the right. I used it for a wide border and back. I couldn't resist it....clearance table!

BellaBoo 07-16-2012 10:04 AM

Be sure and cut strips from both to save for binding. These colors make terrific looking binding to add just the right amount of pop color to a quilt that needs help.

If you know how to do a d9p with directional fabric you could fussy cut the squares. when doing the d9p and your flip the two corners just switch them for each other don't flip and the pattern will stay in the same direction. good luck I love the fab. but I think it is to big for a regular d9p.
pm me is questions.

I like adding the chartreuse also, but not sure what pattern I would do,, d9p would be good

Latrinka 07-17-2012 05:41 AM

I was thinking warm wishes too. Very cute fabric, I know what you mean about not being able to resist when it's marked way down! The clearance table is the 1st place I go to!

What about keeping the design by using big squares of the print and then making "warm wishes" blocks to frame each. Use black and white for the "outsideI framing strips and maybe reintroduce the green as the middle framing strip.

I sure wouldn't want to lose the the houses and witches.

I like the D9P idea but I would make two different blocks: for one block, I would use the orange print as the corner blocks and a calmer print for the other four cross blocks, then a solid for the center. Same idea for the black/white print: use it in the corner blocks and another print for the cross blocks, then a solid for the center block. Perhaps the cross blocks could be the same in both blocks. That "witch's face green" may be good for the cross blocks.

Here is a nice pattern you could use: http://www.hoffmanfabrics.com/conten...sp?ImageID=739

It works great with a print you don't want to cut too small.

HI I have a book called "Just Can't Cut It" with patterns for fabric you want to keep larger. You can still buy the book or you might find some free patterns online.

IBQLTN 07-17-2012 09:10 AM

Send them to my VBF in Tampa who loves Halloween! LOL

Oh, I would add some solids or solid looking prints such as black, chartreuse, yellow. It would make a great wall hanging. Maybe a square within a square or fussy cut the witches then frame with the chartreuse in blocks. Use the "batty" fabric for the outer border. Good luck.

rosiewell 07-17-2012 02:31 PM

I would make it the center of a solid color star or block and turn it into an Halloween quilt

Rose Bagwell 07-17-2012 04:14 PM

I would do a Crazy with cotton. You would cut a circle, square of hexagon of the picture, (fuzzy cut ) place in middle of a muslin block , then start adding from left to right with materials that would match/ contrast. Sort of like crazy quilting but no embellishments. I have done several of those quilts. You could also make tote bags for trick or treat night. Some placemats and or tablerunners .

clevermom3kids 07-17-2012 06:04 PM

I'd use the one on the left for backing, and use the one on the right as a feature fabric and throw in a whole bunch more blacks, whites, and maybe greys.

raedar63 07-17-2012 08:36 PM

pjaco 07-19-2012 05:31 AM

I made a halloween type quilt with a pattern in a magazine. I will post it in a bit. I used lots of halloween fabric but also included some fall colored plaids, loved it so much I paid to have it quilted. You'll love it too.

pjaco 07-19-2012 06:19 AM

OK, here you go. sorry for the shady areas. She even quilted spiders in the sashing !

suzanprincess 07-19-2012 09:08 AM

If I had the houses-and-bats piece I'd fussy cut all the bats, and make them my focus! I love bats, and those are not the usually depicted "vampire" types : )

#1piecemaker 07-19-2012 10:08 AM

Go for it!!! That would allow you to keep the prints recognizable and also make it interesting.

fred singer 07-19-2012 10:10 AM

dp-9 sounds very interesting
