what would you name your quilt store?

i have thought about owning a quilt store and perhaps some of you have also.

just for fun, what would you name your store?

i'll start: 'Thunder Bolts: Quilting on the Edge".

Needles & Pans

No, that's not a typo. My best friend is to baking as I am to quilting, so I told her we have to open a combination quilt/bake shoppe.

It's just a joke between us though, neither of us would like to own a retail operation. We've both been there before (me a book store, she a restaurant) and we won't go back to that closed chapter in our lives.

COYOTEMAGIC 08-03-2012 08:55 AM

Material Obsessions!

ThunderBolts was my high school mascot. Named after WW2 fighter squadron

LyndaOH 08-03-2012 08:59 AM

How about The Stitchuation? Nah...

I'd go with Lynnie's Quilt Shop, LQS for short.

Shelbie 08-03-2012 09:08 AM

I'd take an example from our Ontario government. For years they tried to make us call the store where we bought beer, The Brewer's Retail Outlet. Everybody just called it The Beer Store. Finally they gave up and all the new signs called it The Beer Store. I'd call our local store "The Quilt Shop".

I always thought that 'Material Possessions' in Lake Forest, CA had the PERFECT name that gave the proper sense of value to fabrics that inspired me. As they went out of business within the last few years, I would steal their name in homage to the store.

The "Thunderbolts" are the name of an acrobatic flying team in the new My Little Pony show. First thing I thought of when I saw this. :) Awesome. Most of my friends and their brothers/significant others and my Mom, we're all big fans.

SouthPStitches 08-03-2012 10:30 AM

It's between these three: Cotton Cabin, Stitch n' Bitch, or better yet Fabricholoics Fellowship Hall

How about "Friendly Stitches"?

Sew, What's New?

I'd be very leary of posting a potential business name, storefront or online, on an open forum if you think you may ever want to actually use it. It's a good way to lose both the shop name and the domain name to someone else.

Sewnoma 08-03-2012 11:48 AM

I like campy names, but there's a LQS here named "Material Girl" and I HATE that song and it always gets stuck in my head when I think of that store so I wish they'd picked a different name, LOL. (dangit, it's in my head now! Augh!)

I like my "Sewnoma" pun (I live in Sonoma County, CA) so if I were to have a shop I might just use that. "Go local" is very popular around here so it's wise to include something "local" in your business name if possible.

Although, "FABRICADABRA!!" makes me smile too.

Y'all are welcome to steal my company name ideas as long as you promise to open the shop near me! LOL

Jackie Spencer 08-03-2012 12:37 PM

Patchworkers Paradise or Quilters Haven

i don't have any intention of opening a store! whew! i wonder what "little old ladies" would think! the name IS a little edgy.

I have a problem naming my quilts, can't imagine me coming up with a name for a shop!

Valerie Scherr 08-06-2012 07:42 PM

I would like to open more of a quilting studio more a place to learn how to quilt rather than sell product so I would call it The Quilters Studio of Learning

TanyaL 08-06-2012 08:16 PM

Absolutely love "The Stitch and Bitch Store"! Talking about names reminds me of a famous bar in a Washington DC suburb named The Library. When someone called an office, the person had always gone to the Library. It was very popular with the lawyers in the area.

I lived in a small town in KS & there was a combo gun/fabric store. Think about it... it's perfect! DH can go look at guy stuff & you can fumble fabric to your heart's content!

I used to be in a small, casual sewing circle & we called our "meetings" "Stich & Bitch" sessions! True therapy... friends, fabric & food!

We have a bar here in town by that name... the college kids love it! When their folks call & ask them where they've been, the can honestly say "The Library"!!!

Judi in Ohio 08-07-2012 04:22 AM

Quilt Obsession would be mine.

ohstr 08-07-2012 04:58 AM

There was a church that was for sale... and my sister in law thought it would make a super quilt shop... the name would have to be ......Sew Heavenly.... I thought that was so neat.

fairydawn 08-07-2012 04:27 PM

Material Girls, Sew What!, or maybe Stitch n' Stash.

paulswalia 08-07-2012 05:19 PM

Sew Happy. Or come up with something that starts with the letter "A" since you would want the very first listing in the yellow pages.

going2Ark 08-07-2012 05:52 PM

The Spool Hall

Lori S 08-07-2012 06:05 PM

I think mine would be the "Stash Paradise".

21quilter 08-07-2012 06:27 PM

I day dream of owning a shop.....but would never do it. I have never come up with a name that I'm happy with.....so this thread fascinates me.

I previously have worked in 2 stores and really enjoyed it. One of the local shops asked if I would be interested in filling in for them. I have to admit.......I'm tempted.

MrsMarshmellow 08-07-2012 06:29 PM

I've thought of Sew What? or "My Favorite Quilt Shop"

nativetexan 08-07-2012 07:09 PM

Quilters Paradise!!!

LadyElisabeth 08-07-2012 08:36 PM

I think I like the "Fabricholoics Fellowship Hall" the best. Here in Oregon it would probably be Oregon Quilting Shop, to go with my TV program
