I started sewing my first bow tuck bag together. So far so good until I was going to do a little bit of quilting on the body of it. I didn't get far with that because my machine didn't want to sew through 2 thicknesses of the pellon fleece. I am wondering if I got a thicker fleece than the pattern calls for. When I bought my fleece they didn't have the # that the pattern calls for. I don't remember what the # is of what I got.
I even tried using both my machines and neither one wants to sew through all that thickness. I lengthened the stitch length. I was just going to do some straight line quilting..no FMQ. Well, anyway now I am thinking I may take the fleece off the lining part and just use a medium weight fusible pellon instead of the fleece. Do you think that would work okay? I am open to any suggestions. |

I will let you know how it goes. Should know by tomorrow if I switch some of the pellon to a regular pellon. I have 2 good machines, a Bernina and a Babylock. I even used the walking foot. Still no success. It just doesn't want to feed. Checked the feed dogs. They are in the up position as they should be. It just has me puzzled. Linda Sherryl |
I believe you have mis-read the directions. The outside and lining should have been quilted separately before assembling them. Not sure what you can do at this point that wouldn't involve ripping it out. I have made one that I didn't use the fleece on the lining part. I used a heavy interfacing instead. It was ok, but I think the fleece would have been better. When sewing thru the thickness during the assembly part, I found that using a walking foot helped.

I prefer fusible interfacing on my purses and bags. :-)
