I have been crocheting star shaped blankets (round, really...) using those 'cakes' of yarn that change from color to color. Almost finished with my second one. I'm amazed at how much faster crocheting uses up your yarn than knitting does.

Also sewing... Finished my Boom swap blocks way ahead of schedule. Cut out several outfits of summer clothing for my baby granddaughter. And I have tons to quilt, but haven't delved into it just yet.

I resisted the call to sew facemasks all this time, but an elderly friend finally persuaded me to do it. She is 93 and lives in assisted living, and they are taken care of by "aides". They have been confined to their rooms, and only the aides can come in to clean and help them. Family can't even visit. They shut down the dining room and now bring trays of food to each resident 3x a day. She is concerned because the aides need to wear masks in order not to infect the residents. I know homemade masks won't protect against CV, but there are other flu and cold germs out there this time of year, and they could kill the elderly residents. My friend says they can't get masks because all the masks have to go to the hospitals. So today I started making some masks to give to her assisted living faciity. b-o-r-i-n-g... but needed, so I'll make a couple dozen or so and drop them off up there.

Also started taking walks. It feels so much better to get outside, and if you are lucky, get some sunshine. We are needing that vitamin D!

10 cases in Nueces County...Yesterday I stitched a facemask using water-resistant plastic-y fabric that I had used to recover my barstools. Placed a quilted scrap inside to "pad". I felt much better about caring for my mother. I visit her house everyday with breakfast and to care for her daily needs. (My brother also lives there).

Other than that, We stay home. Retired with too many hobbies and a new homesite on acres of tall grass means there's lots to do around here. We started our first garden!

Today i plan to finish the zipper bags I've discovered are so fun to make ... and practice my quilting with the rectangle needed to create them.

* Rearranged furniture by switching sunroom table & kitchen table. See how it goes. Don’t tell DH but if I don’t like it we may move them back again :)
* Finished 2 small sewing projects.
* Found a toy bear to put in the window. Families are walking with kids & spotting bears. Granddaughter said her kids saw 8 today !

I sewed like a mad woman the three months since Christmas. Mostly I make comfort quilts for cancer patients and completed 34. Because we had plans to travel a good bit this year, I wanted to contribute my part to our group. Since I am stuck at home, I am making Jewel Box for my daughter in law.

Just finished this block. Starting a new sampler (hopefully).
No pattern. Just making my favourite blocks.

I have to quote my brother: "Who knew that our usual lifestyle is called 'quarantine' by other people?"
The main difference is not that I'm staying home most of the time, but that I can't just hop in the car and go buy a spool or thread or some fabric on a whim until this thing passes. I could look upon it as being stuck or I can take advantage of all the time to focus on what I have been unable to get done in the past because of other distractions and duties. I've been doing pretty much what I always do, but getting a little more sewing done and stash busting in the process because it's easier than mail order. I've been spurred on by the birth of our precious granddaughter in January. We are saddened that we only got to visit with her one time and then we hit this forced change in lifestyle. She and her brother and parents are 4 1/2 hours away by car, but it might as well be the far side of the planet. I made her a quilt and some baby clothes and a couple of shirts for her brother and then I started sewing for another baby born Feb. 24, my brother's first great grandson. I got his quilt done, too, and a few more baby clothes. It's such fun, and such a nice distraction from all the sad news. Next will be finishing a large quilt UFO that I haven't touched in a year. It's almost half quilted.

Right now- yelling at my son to get his schoolwork done. #homeschooling

It's sunny and warm so outside in the sun cleaning the flower beds of weeds and leftover leaves. Can't watch the TV anymore it's just too depressing, grocery shelves are getting sparse but people are working triple hard to get products out. Hopefully the end is not as far away as it sometimes seems.
